‘The sorting hat: naughty or nice?’ Hand drawing some simple Christmas cards :) #harrypotter #christmas
Christmas card making cause hallmark just won’t do.
Menhir Metal SculptureÂ
Inspired by sacred stones closely linked to legends and myths of Borneo, I created this sculpture in 2009 for my final exam piece.Â
As you take a look, some angles shows simple strings of shapes while at other perspectives, it starts to reveal a complex silhouette. Â
Unfortunately, its glass counterpart didn't survive as long.
All in all, its good to know that six years on, Menhir is still standing tall in the very school where my art journey started, Pembroke, Adelaide.Â

It’s Just a FrameworkÂ
I was given a set of rules to follow. Pretty much like you.
It’s alright cause it’s just a framework.
Now, look what happened...
We ended up very different you and I.Â
'What are worry lines?' Is it the wrinkles of expression on the man's face? Or is it messy distraught lines you see? Is it in the details that is causing the chaos? Or are you simply just a big mess as a whole?
Card MakingÂ
... with Ronnie the Raccoon!!
The one with grass skirt and trophy was actually inspired by an ‘incident’ that happened when I was really young.Â
You know that thing parents do where they dress their kids up with costumes meant for toys and get them to dance in public with a trophy on their heads?Â
I wish I could say otherwise.Â
Happy Father’s Day
Here is a little drawing inspired by and dedicated to dad.Â
For most parents, dad is known to be the stern man on the boat shouting at young sailors to head up to starting line, causing ripples on the calm sea. Relatives recognise him as the head of our family. The responsible father who care and adore their oh-so-fantastic children :) To the rest of Sabah, he is acknowledge as hard working lawyer.Â
What do his children think he is most famous for?Â
We see him as that one guy in a wedding who out-dances everyone on the dance floor.Â

Card making: ‘In Control’
Recently, I’ve been making cards with the main aim of sending off to dear friends to show how much I appreciate and lucky I am to have them in my life. It’s great to stay connected through art and words as well as giving it to them in old school email airmail fashion.Â
Also, this gives me an outlet to draw or check out an idea in a less formal fashion. Series such as the pictures above are born.
‘In Control’ is basically an exploration of how there may be some form external control directing us to where we go. You can call it external support, social expectations or even political agendas.Â
This is an extension of the ‘Mask’ series where we naturally display/wear different versions or personas of ourselves to others.
The umbrella symbolises some form of protection from external factors, to stay hidden and sheltered which may often be lonely.Â
Are we sheltering ourselves too well?Â
What part of you, is made by you?Â
If the people we surround ourselves with have nurtured and shaped us to who we are today, what part of us is genuinely original?Â
If Only I Could Have a Peep
It is baffling to figure out what others are thinking of. ‘What is in your head?’ ‘How on earth does your mind work?’
Thought processes vary from each individual. ‘What is on your mind?’, I often wonder when discussions occur. Surely it would be some complex construction and workflow filled with fancy contraptions and flashing lights - a chaotic orderly mess. Maybe there is absolutely nothing in it. What a mystery!
How do we see beyond the veil? If only I could have a peep.
going a bit crazy with card making :/
