His tankard full of honeyed mead

But what the bearded giant didn’t know

It was love that he did need

And though he drained his foaming mug

Each and every night

He’d fall asleep with dreams of more

Than drinking by firelight

Until he found a maiden true

Who had a tankard foaming too

Arm in arm they drank their draught

With smiling eyes they tried every stout

Until the day she drank the faster

And a ring glimmered neath the foam

The bearded giant always loved

To drink much and drink alone

Until he found his maiden’s hand

And placed a ring upon it

Now the bearded giant’s love has grown

For his tankard, his maiden, and so much more
