Sometimes you hit a wall, and you say “Okay, that’s all I can handle.” And you back off and try not to get near the wall again. Okay, but what if you you really don’t wanna give up on something? Even though, I mean, you know that it just might be too much for you to handle, like, even if you’ve just slammed into that wall? There’s strength in admitting what you can’t do.

It’s completely bonkers to me that Alex basically only interacted with two characters for the majority of the season, despite being in the main setting of the show.  Even just going on the material that was already there, I would have rather seen her getting forced into various prison risks and illegalities and deal with wanting to hide that from Piper, but eventually telling her, and them worrying about what that risk means but also Alex doesn’t really have a choice etc.  Couple that with Piper trying to get used to the post-prison life, which is hard enough to do when you have a good reason to actually miss an aspect of prison life.  They could get to that point of Alex worrying she’s holding Piper back and it’s not fair (especially if they actually put some emphasis on the fact that she’s having to take risks that could end up expanding her sentence), and to the point that when she gets transferred it feels like it’s making things even more impossible.  We could easily get there without focusing so hard on the cheating and the teasing threat of cheating.  It’s cliche and it’s uninteresting and they even seemed to know the cheating was just a symptom rather than the main problem….it was so underdiscussed it really shouldn’t have been there at all.
