Update for Trump Voters 1. He told you he’d repeal Obamacare and replace it with something “beautiful.” You bought it. But he didn’t repeal and he didn’t replace. (Just as well: His plan would have knocked 22 million off health insurance, including many of you.) 2. He told you he’d cut your taxes. You bought it. But tax “reform” is stalled. And if it ever moves, the only ones whose taxes will be cut are the wealthy. 3. He told you he’d invest $1 billion in our nation’ crumbling infrastructure. You bought it. But his infrastructure plan, which was really a giveaway to rich investors, is also stalled. 4. He said he’d clean the Washington swamp. You bought it. But he's brought into his administration more billionaires, CEOs, and Wall Street moguls than in any administration in history, to make laws that will enrich their businesses, along with former lobbyists, lawyers and consultants who are crafting new policies for the same industries they recently worked for. 5. He said he’d use his business experience to whip the White House into shape. You bought it. But he created the most chaotic, dysfunctional, back-stabbing White House in modern history, in which no one is in charge. 6. He said he’d close “special interest loopholes that have been so good for Wall Street investors but unfair to American workers." You bought it. But he picked a Wall Street financier Stephen Schwarzman to run his strategic and policy forum, who compares closing those loopholes to Hitler’s invasion of Poland. 7. He told you he’d “bring down drug prices” by making deals with drug companies. You bought it. But now the White House says that promise is “inoperative.” 8. He said that on Day One he’d label China a “currency manipulator.” You bought it. But then he met with China’s president and declared "China is not a currency manipulator." 9. He said he wouldn’t bomb Syria. You bought it. But then he bombed Syria. 10. He called Barack Obama “the vacationer-in-Chief” and accused him of playing more rounds of golf than Tiger Woods. He promised to never be the kind of president who took cushy vacations on the taxpayer’s dime, not when there was so much important work to be done. You bought it. But in his first 6 months he has spent more taxpayer money on vacations than Obama did in the first 3 years of his presidency. Not to mention all the money taxpayers are spending protecting his family, including his two sons who travel all over the world on Trump business. 11. He said he’d force companies to keep jobs in America. You believed him. But despite their promises, Carrier, Ford, GM, and the rest are shipping jobs to Mexico and China. 12. He said he’d create coal jobs. You believe him. He hasn’t. But here's what he has done: Since 1965 a federal program called the Appalachian Regional Commission has spent $23 billion helping communities in coal states fund job retraining, reclaim land, and provide desperately needed social services. A.R.C. helped cut poverty rates almost in half, double the percentage of high-school graduates, and reduce infant mortality by two-thirds. Trump’s first proposed budget eliminates A.R.C.

Sometimes You Just Gotta Dubsmash Steel Magnolias Sometimes you just have to express yourself with a little Dubsmash, and what better to do that than with some of the very best quotable lines from the classic Steel Magnolias!

Let’s move into the country
Me: ☝🏼
OMG STOP! I wasn't ready!!!
"There is nothing more dangerous than a cornered and wounded animal. As the world closes in on President Donald Trump with a Russian investigation that is billowing so much smoke that the likelihood of some sort of fire seems highly likely, an increasingly isolated and temperamentally ill-prepared presidency could descend into a level of paranoia-fueled chaos the likes of which we have never seen as a nation. This morning, in a series of Tweets, Mr. Trump accused President Obama of McCarthyism and a Nixon/Watergate conspiracy. He called his predecessor a "Bad (or sick) guy!" Let that sink in for a moment. The President of the United States on an early Saturday morning is attacking the previous President of the United States in a level of demeaning condescension that has no parallel in recent American history. And then he tries to link Mr. Obama to two of the lowest points of America's post-World War II history? When it is his administration that is swirling around the storm drain of scandal? The impetus for these accusations, for which Mr. Trump predictably provided no proof or authentication, was a claim that "Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory." Many sources quoted on this topic in the press say these assertions are unlikely. The source for Mr. Trump may very well have been the alt-right Breitbart site, which had an article making these claims. Or maybe it is a sign that a law-enforcement investigation was at a level higher than we even know. Whatever the reason, this just proves once again that the only way to settle this is an independent and open special investigation. We also need a real national discussion about whether this kind of behavior is befitting a President. Are Mr. Trump's Republican allies comfortable with these kinds of accusations against a former President? And where is the proof? What is the truth? We all have a right to know." – #DanRather #NewsAndGuts
Never thought I would post this, but Trump is ACTUALLY making America great again. Just look at the progress made since the election: 1. Unprecedented levels of ongoing civic engagement. 2. Millions of Americans now know who their state and federal representatives are without having to google. 3. Millions of Americans are exercising more. They're holding signs and marching every week. 4. Alec Baldwin is great again. Everyone's forgotten he's kind of a jerk. 5. The Postal Service is enjoying the influx cash due to stamps purchased by millions of people for letter and postcard campaigns. 6. Likewise, the pharmaceutical industry is enjoying record growth in sales of anti-depressants. 7. Millions of Americans now know how to call their elected officials and know exactly what to say to be effective. 8. Footage of town hall meetings is now entertaining. 9. Tens of millions of people are now correctly spelling words like emoluments, narcissist, fascist, misogynist, holocaust and cognitive dissonance. 10. Everyone knows more about the rise of Hitler than they did last year. 11. Everyone knows more about legislation, branches of power and how checks and balances work. 12. Marginalized groups are experiencing a surge in white allies. 13. White people in record numbers have just learned that racism is not dead. (See #6) 14. White people in record numbers also finally understand that Obamacare IS the Affordable Care Act. 15. Stephen Colbert's "Late Night" finally gained the elusive #1 spot in late night talk shows, and Seth Meyers is finding his footing as today's Jon Stewart. 16. "Mike Pence" has donated millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood since Nov. 9th. 17. Melissa FREAKING McCarthy. 18. Travel ban protesters put $24 million into ACLU coffers in just 48 hours, enabling them to hire 200 more attorneys. Lawyers are now heroes. 19. As people seek veracity in their news sources, respected news outlets are happily reporting a substantial increase in subscriptions, a boon to a struggling industry vital to our democracy. 20. Live streaming court cases and congressional sessions are now as popular as the Kardashians. 21. Massive cleanup of facebook friend lists. 22. People are reading classic literature again. Sales of George Orwell's "1984" increased by 10,000% after the inauguration. (Yes, that is true. 10,000%. 9th grade Lit teachers all over the country are now rock stars.) 23. More than ever before, Americans are aware that education is important. Like, super important. 24. Now, more than anytime in history, everyone believes that anyone can be President. Seriously, anyone.
If a wall doesn't stop The Kool Aid Man and White Walkers it's not gonna stop Mexicans, you asshole.
