Stepping gingerly into the shade of her garage, his eyes continued to scan her car with appreciation.  He’d love to have a car like that, and would admit to having a thing for Chevys, even though he didn’t own one himself.

"Why are you in town? If you don’t mind me asking." Deanna asked as she closed the hood of her car and covered it with the tarp that was on the ground. "Uh, there’s this diner up the road. They got good food. I’ll drive you. I’m headed there anyways."

"I understand," he said with a smile when she didn't want to offer her hand.  He took a few deep breaths.  He hadn't realized how hot it was outside until he got the chance to stand in the shade.  "Nice to meet you, Deanna."

"She’s a beauty, isn’t she?" Deanna asked. She loved when people complimented her car. Although she knew her whips were nice, she loved hearing others say so.

She nodded for the man to come inside, out of the heat. As she turned back around and continued working on her car, she struck up conversation with the man. “What’s your name?”

It was the middle of August and Deanna was beating herself up for not getting started on beefing up her car sooner. Race day was fast approaching and she was starting to have doubts about whether or not her car would lead her to another victory. 

After her usual morning routine, she headed out to the garage to work on her most prized possession; the Chevy Camaro that her pops had given her. He was the only family member that actually believed in her. The rest just thought Deanna was racing for attention. Which, wasn’t a total lie. She loved the attention she got from racing. It made her feel like she could take on the world and live to tell the tale. 

Dean had been under the hood of the Chevy since noon, she was getting kind of hungry. Her stomach growled but, she ignored it. She needed to keep working. This car had to be ready for the first race. She was going to smoke the opponents. 

Another hour or so passed when Deanna heard a light tap on the garage door. “Can’t you see I’m working here. This better be important.” She said with a slight irritation in her voice as she turned around.

One thing Daniel missed about Scotland was the weather.  It was too hot here for August.  Especially since he had to walk for a while, get used to his new leg again.  He had parked in a leveled garage about two miles ago and meant to get some breakfast--or lunch, now that he'd checked his watch.

He was new to this city, meant to actually settle down for once, get into some of the racing.  First, he had to get to know the place.  He limped along for a while, content to wander until he found something.  But after too long, that proved to be more trouble than it was worth.  He needed to find a place soon or he might not have have it in him to walk all the way back to his car.  He was hungry and slowly getting frustrated, so he stopped and looked around.

Not finding what he was looking for, his eyes settled instead on an open garage not too far away, with a car inside.  Curious, he walked over and peered inside.  He tapped lightly when he approached to get the attention of the woman under the hood of a Chevy.  It was polite to announce your presence in most cultures.  By the way she snapped at him, however, maybe America wasn't one of those cultures.
