Alaric: Go away, Damon!

Elena: Hi. 

Alaric: You’re, uh… Not who I expected.

But then, Damon isn’t alive.

And when Ric sees the way Damon’s face lights up at the announcement on TV, that gay marriage is legal throughout the US, he doesn’t hesitate for a moment.

He takes Damon’s hand in his, “We doing this then?”

Damon looks across at him, looks at their entwined fingers. 

He looks back up at Ric, searching his face for any sign of sarcasm. Ric smiles, leans across and drops a light, sweet kiss on Damon’s lips. He slides his free hand into Damon’s hair, and rests their foreheads together. 

“Marry me.” Ric whispers.

Damon grins, looking younger, happier and more human than Ric has ever seen him before.
