how do you make comics/art so fast??
To be honest, most of my posts (especially the longer comics) are part of an already completed backlog of pieces. A backlog that has now moooostly run out, so don't expect the frequency of my posts to keep up with what I've had so far.
BUT I do have a good shortcut that I think has been helping speed up my art, and I can share it with all of you. (This only applies to those of you who use Clip Studio Paint, which I vouch for because it's a good program and doesn't fleece you like Adobe.)
Go into 'Window' and open up the program 'sub-view', AKA the most deceptively named tool in the entire program.
Now, this will open a little window in your workspace that'll start out blank. Click the little open folder icon, and you can put it in any file you want (it even works with your working files, which will be important in a little bit). Now, this works as a nice way to separate your references without cluttering your layers; HOWEVER, it has a secret, even MORE useful feature attached to it.
If the little eyedropper symbol in the corner is clicked on, then as soon as you mouse over the sub view window, your cursor will instantly turn into colour picking mode and will instantly switch out of it once you move back to your canvas.
This, of course, immensely cuts in half the amount of time for ensuring you keep a palette straight and don't mess up your colours and I used it as such for a while, but it became annoying cause I'd always have to make another dedicated image just for that...until I found out the program was even more powerful than I traditionally thought. See, remember what I said about how it can use your actual working files as well as PNGS and JPEGS? Well, that includes the file you're actually working on!
So if you're like me and you like to use gradient maps and other effects on your work, you can bring up a version of your own file without those that can be used as a touch-up and also an EVOLVING palette as you continue your work (the sub view updates the file every time you save it). So if you're a comic artist like me and you're laying down flats, you can do one panel, save the file, and now the sub-view can use that panel as a reference palette to eyedrop from, and so on and so forth.
Anyway, I don't know how well-known this trick is (and there's probably a bunch of things that might be a bit faster), but this is what I use to help cut down time during colouring (which is by FAR the longest and most excruciating part of the process for me lol)
