Last thing I have to say about this Merritt Mathias fuckshit: Hayley Raso legitimately BROKE HER BACK in a game because of a collision with the other team. She had no fucking clue if she’d ever walk again let alone ever play again and girl never said ANYTHING about it...she went on and worked hard to get back. Like maybe, just maybe, grow the fuck up and deal with the fact that injuries happen in sports.

There’s people really surprised Marta got suspended? she put her hands on a player’s neck and shoved a different one (and idc what you think about Daly or flopping—regardless, Marta took two hands and intentionally, 100% shoved). The ball wasn’t in play for any of this. The red card wasn’t even about Daly—it was for putting her hands on Mewis’ neck (the ref said this herself). You absolutely cannot do that. It was clear as day she was getting an extra suspension and is fairly fortunate it was just one game. Yes, the ref lost control of the match, but that doesn’t excuse this…and deep down you know if it happened to your fave you wouldn’t be excusing it. In reality though, none of this should come down to “faves” vs. “others.” It’s about a pro league being consistent and not encouraging future similar actions.

And no, Daly wasn’t going to get suspended too. She never retaliated physically, neither did Mewis. Even if you think Daly provoked Marta in some way, that does not get you suspended. This is pro sports, you don’t think NWSL players trash talk or try to get under opponents’ skin all the time? Fans handling women’s sports with kids gloves does no one any favors. Bad behavior should be called out and punished. It doesn’t mean anyone needs to change their opinion of Marta (I personally hold no ill will toward her. Both her and Daly are extremely passionate/intense players, and that’s a big part of who they are—on the field at least.) Daly got suspended an extra game earlier this year because she let her emotions cloud her judgment (in the form of clapping in the ref’s face) too…it happens.

Everyone who is saying this is dumb lmao, Rachel was on the ground behind Kristie so when Kristie got pushed she couldn’t catch herself bc she didn’t wanna step on Rachel. Plus the refs def didn’t see Rachel get pushed by Marta but saw Kristie get pushed. Kristie also flopped but it wasn’t as obvious as Rachel’s, so it was kinda a purposeful fall😂
