Instead, I found myself in the middle of a nightmare. I have to wipe Jeane down frequently since my landlord smokes inside and I worry about our health. I reported my landlord and she is now facing a forgery investigation for faking a notice from the property management company to try and steal my housing rights. I’ve tried to stay small, stay quiet, but today she became a physical threat. I do not have a safe environment where I can actually leave to view rentals with confidence that my belongings will remain when I return.

Feb 15th at 11:00 AM, I heard a series of violent bangs against my bedroom door, punching a hole in it. Immediately after she was yelling, "13 days, bitch," in the hall. I fear that she could escalate physically in person. I am barricaded in my room with totes pushed against the door to keep it from opening since i dont have a lock. I am scared.

Asking for help feels wrong. But after the breach of my door today I realized I can’t fix this alone.

I have a goal of 3000 total that will go towards:

motel: I need at least two weeks in a pet-friendly motel where I can turn on the lights, keep Jeane safe, and work while i figure out stable housing.

Legal assistance: I aim to consult with a local firm. I will need a lawyer to stand between me and the management company to get my $2,900 Relocation Assistance to put towards a more permanent housing.

GETTING OUT: I use a cane so I will probably need movers to safely get my things to storage

I'm looking for safety. Every bit helps me escape and get back to being the woman who smiles and laughs at dumb jokes. I don't want to let this woman steal my smile.
