“It’s our mutual friend’s wedding and they keep shoving us into each other because we’re the only ones at the ceremony who are single” AU.
Wow, it was really happening. Danielle was beaming with happiness to see one of her friends from college getting married. They weren’t the exceptionally close, but the first or..was it second year of college? One of those. They had gotten each other through their rounds of exams, and their friendship blossomed from there. Of course, life got busy and they hadn’t really seen much of each other. It was all texts, calls, or social media..and now here she was. Danielle shook her head as he heard her friend speak, “no that’s not necessary Kate! I don’t need that, I already told you why I didn’t bring a plus one.” Her words were lost in the wind, as her friend ran off, who knew someone could move that fast in a wedding dress?
Danielle set her glass down on the nearby table as her friend returned with someone else; she extended her hand offering a handshake, “Hi I’m Danielle, it’s nice to meet..you I suppose?” Well, what was the right way to greet someone when you meet them in a situation like this? There went Kate again, running off again. She offered the other a smile, deciding she might as well have a conversation; it’d be rude to ignore them. “So you’re the other one who didn’t bring a plus one? The way she acted, you’d think it’s a crime to come alone to a wedding.”
it was positively weird seeing brayden in a suit at a big wedding. his wedding. avery would definitely have to adjust to his best friend from high school being a married man, but kate made him happy and that was allegedly all that mattered. plus, who could say no to attending a wedding? especially one with free booze? certainly not avery. when he had made a comment about hitting up the bridesmaids, brayden had laughed and it wasn’t until he actually showed up at the damn thing, he realized what that laugh had meant. and honestly, what kind of bridesmaid brings a plus one to a wedding? in his humble opinion, that was just uncalled for – and very unnecessary. kate had rolled her eyes at him when he complained to her about his obviously extremely big problem, but when she later came back, she grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him off to the opposite end of the room, where she had left him. with a stranger, who she had introduced to him on the way, as the only other single here.
he extended his hand out to meet her handshake, and gave her a nod and a smile. “ hey. avery, ” aaaand kate was gone. what a surprise. “ it’s nice to meet you, too. ” and it probably was. “ oh, it’s highly illegal. my cousin went to prison for going alone to a wedding last fall. very serious stuff. i’m sure they wouldn’t have let us come if they didn’t know they could pass us off as a couple, should the cops show up. ” sometimes he questioned why he said the things that he did, what what’s done is done.
