In this one,  me and the homie Victor sound deaden the roof of his Mazda3, add a layer of foam insulation, and even change up the headliner by adding a new material.

This is part 2 to my previous video in which we did the same process to his doors (minus the headliner obviously).

Exactly a year after my last live show, I started work on this film, Por Mi Hija, as the location sound engineer.  (That’s a fancy way of saying I was the sound guy for the movie)

Not only was this project a lot of fun, but it represented a new beginning.  Being back to doing creative work in the audio field, (and a movie at that!)

The story is about a young couple from a small town in Mexico that decide to come to the US looking for a better life.  Unfortunately they come across and things only go downhill from there.

After helping me sound deaden the floor of DaSlapBox, my homie Victor saw the benefit of sound deadening and was convinced that he needed some as well.

We added a layer of Noico 80 mil sound deadening to the doors (both the metal and the plastic), and then added a layer of Noico 315 mil foam insulation on top of the sound deadening.

Completely removing the interior and installing Sound Deadening and Foam Insulation to kill vibrations and minimize road noise.

This was a long process, but the results are definitely worth it.  Not only is the car quieter and more enjoyable to drive, but the bass hits harder!!

The point of sound deadening is to stop vibrations, which take away from the bass (as well as sound annoying!)  Ever since sound deadening the doors and installing the sub box, the roof has been shaking like crazy! 

I finally put the SLAP in DaSlapBox!

18 inch subwoofer, a box that took up the entire trunk, and a Sundown SCV-1500D amplifier

Sound deadening is probably the easiest way for anyone to instantly improve the sound quality in their car by blocking out the outside noises and minimizing vibrations.  The results are instantly noticeable and worth far more than the modest price on Amazon.

It’s not a racecar, it’s a bass car

I used a 36sqft pack of Noico 80 mil and managed to do all four doors and several interior panels

High-output alternators are one of the first big electrical upgrades you need to do along with the Big 3 and an upgraded battery (or a few).

The process is pretty easy, but can still eat up some time.  Luckily I present it to you here in just a few minutes with a pretty simple walk-through.

Finally got around to upgrading the Big 4 in "DaSlapBox”!

The Big 4 (usually Big 3), is an upgrade to a car’s electrical system that allows the battery to charge faster and more efficiently while also helping it to maintain a charge.

This is such a crucial upgrade for car audio systems because the additional amps and accessories draw much more power than the car would from the factory, so wires that can handle greater electrical currents are necessary (if not required)

The wires that get upgraded in a typical Big 3 upgrade are: + Battery to Alternator - Battery to Chassis - Battery to Engine

Between working on the box and editing the footage, I've been extra busy with my recent deliveries from @Mechman_Alts and @SkyHighCarAudio, (and of course @Amazon)...but things are coming together nicely!

What I learned my first time filming live music [Throwback Thursday]

In this one we discuss the learning opportunity that was my first live music performance videography gig.  I went to Lestats West in Normal Heights and shot the Robin Henkel Band with Horns putting on an awesome sounding set!
