Well, about the Dottore, I actually drew him about two years ago again. The best villain in Genshin, an absolute scoundrel who is great precisely because of that, and who, miraculously, doesn’t seem destined to be turned into a good guy but will remain who he is (or maybe I just really want it to be that way, even at the cost of him definitely not becoming a playable character with that approach, since villains aren’t really in favor). You could talk about him and his role in the story for ages—how many patches have they been teasing our interest in him with constant mentions? And I’m really delighted by a whole wave of new cool artwork featuring him lately. Anyway, I have a bit of a mini obsession and a few ideas related to him. I hope I manage to draw everything and make it in time before the new patch.

I continue to experiment with angles that are strange and unusual for me; at the very least, I find the process itself interesting. The desire to draw Aventurine specifically was also quite sudden, of course, I still need to work on the likeness...

I think many people who’ve tried writing for themselves have had situations where you come up with some cool moment and then try to build a story around it—how the characters got there, what they went through, and so on. And so, just for a scene that might take a page or two (at best—sometimes it’s much shorter), you’ve already written dozens of pages so that scene doesn’t just hang there in a kind of vacuum. And the most important thing remains: preserving that very scene everything was built around... Where am I going with this. Let’s say this isn’t the exact scene that started the written history of my main world, but... let’s call it a collective image inspired by it. It has a protagonist, an antagonist, a turning point, yet without context, it’s not entirely clear what’s what. Maybe in—I don’t know how many—years, but I really hope in this lifetime, I’ll put something like this on the cover of that story where it all began, the one that means so much to me.
