ZOMBIE STAGE COMIC ANALYSIS
Okay not introductions necessary we all know what we came here for! All the images I got them directly from Vivinos Patreon.
Okay, so the teaser that released today is actually this one movie that our favourite dorks are watching. From what we can se in the comic they are all students from an art school and belong to different departments.
We dont know how old they are but we DO KNOW that the age diffrence between them changed.
Luka is 30 in Alien Stage and Hyuna 27. Their age difference in ALNST is of 3 years. But in ZOMST they are in the same year wich can mean three things.
In ZOMST they were born the same year
In the Anak Art school the year you are doesnt depend on your age, like in the same UNI class you could have 45 y.o in the first year and 24 y.o in the last one
Or both
With Hyuna and Luka specifically I dont think the change is that significant, their roles as the eldest among the main cast doesnt change. Even if the age difference between them and the rest of the cast is much lower
BUT DO YOU KNOW WHAT DID CHANGE??? In ALSNT
Sua was 23
Mizi and Ivan 22
And Till 21
BUT IN ZOMST SUA AND IVAN ARE BOTH 2ND YEARS, WHILE MIZI AND TILL ARE 1ST YEARS
Wich once again can mean those 3 things. Their ages changed, their ages doesnt mean anything rescpect wich year they are in the school or both.
I personally think that the most probable one is that their ages changed. Specifically because of Hyuna and Luka but well have to see.
Next Mizi starts reading the synopsis of the movie and she mentiones that the virus makes GEMSTONES grow inside the body, and in the teaser we see examples of this
Wich remind me of this series of official art
AND the jewel hearts in KARMA that bleed black
Both the gemstone zombie thing and the gems and injuries we see in Sua in the teaser have to be connected somehow because they are too similar to not have some meaning.
ILL REMIND YOU THAT THE WE KNEW THAT TILL WOULD LIVE PRESICETLY BECAUSE OF CLUES GIVEN IN OFFICIAL ART AND WE WERE RIGHT. its just that right now i dont know what could it mean.
Next we have Till and Sua blushing while listening to MiziΒ΄s dramatic reading of the synopsis.
I really really really hope we can move on from TillΒ΄s crush on Mizi, that part of his arc was already developed and in the comic we got last year he said that the childish love he had for her faded long ago. Given what he says next about asking for an autograph and that he is in the film and theather department it could just be him being exited about the arts he loves. We know that he has always been a very passionate artist so this doesnt necesarilly mean that in this new story we will start again with a crush on Mizi, i hope.
AND YES HE HAS A SCENE WHERE HE LOOKS AT MIZI FROM BEHIND HER BUT LOOK AT THE CONTEXT AND WHAT HE IS THINKING!
First he is centered about getting an autograph, not drawing her, not admiring her beauty, not writting a song for her. He is thinking that she is a good performer and as a theather kid he sees potential and wants an autograph.
Hyuna talks about how its a cult movie and and how could she find it, then Till remembers his teacher talking about how expensive that movie is and he is thinking about why Mizi would go far enought to rent the blue ray of that movie. So, for what we know getting access to that movie is hard and Till finds odd that Mizi would go throught that trouble.
The only thing I really can think off about this is the easiest one. This is a reincarnation or an alternative Universe and Mizi remembers Alien Stage and that movie has something to do with that. Not sure why or how.
Ivan and TillΒ΄s dynamic seem to be the same, Ivan being annoying and clingy and Till being a tsundere about it while implicently showing how normal is for him to have Ivan clinging to him.
WHAT I DO FIND EXTRANGE IS MIZI AND SUAΒ΄S DYNAMIC
At first nothings strange. Sua is blusing looking at Mizi perform, Mizi is overdramatic and hugs Sua and Sua blushes. Our favourite lesbians in their natural enviroment.
BUT WHATS EXTRANGE IS WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
I have no idea why Sua is making that face. I checked and she isnt looking at Till and Ivan that are right next to them, LukaΒ΄s entrance is later and HyunaΒ΄s question too.
In the next panel she complains about Mizi performing loudly and we know Sua is easy to scare but she doesnt look scared. She looks annoyed, or angry, shes puting her hair behind her ear and the only person she could be looking at from that angle is Mizi, but i dont think she is looking at her.
I have no idea why Sua looks like that. Maybe is my autistic ass missing something but for now is a mystery.
Next Luka arrives, Ivan hides his snacks from him (SUSPICIOUS, but probably because of the thing that he is a from the model department and has to do with the diet Ivan should be following I guess) and Till thinks that his seat is the best one while looking up and then behaving like "nope nothing to coment here" From the angle of his head and Mizis dialoge I dont think he is looking at her but he is looking in Ivans direction. he could be talking about the spot with best view of the movie but I think hes talking about looking at Ivan. And I think that because he didnt repress himself about being a movie fanboy in the comic before but here he is trying to appear unbothered.
It could also be that he is looking at both Ivan and Mizi and thats why he thinks he is lucky about his seat, we know he is a Biking after all.
Luka apparently told them he couldnt go to watch the movie with them and seems to have a tense realtionship with Hyuna.
But it doesnt seem to be that serious. I mean definetly is nothing as dramatic as killing your twin.
Luka still has purple fingers so the fact that he is fragile and has health issues seems to be the same as in ALSNT.
Hyuna is cold to him and tries to ignore him but its clear that she cant and looks at him before making Till play the movie.
We dont have much info but I came up with three options.
Hyuna being cold to Luka has somthing to do with the fact that he said he couldnt go and they fought over it or that same conversation derivated on a fight over another topic
2. Hyuna is there to watch the movie precicely because Luka said he couldnt go. Given that Luka said he went to see Hyuna I think this seems to be the case.
3. The reason why Hyuna is cold to him has nothign to do with the fact that Luka could or couldnt go to see the movie.
And the last thing I find worth mentioning is Ivan calling Sua an Otaku for whatever reason canalizing the annoying little brother he has always been.
Giving this, maybe Sua looked upset earlier while Mizi was hugging her because of the movie or because of what Ivan says here, shes an Otaku and she doesnt want it to be known. We dont have much info yet. AAAND THATS IT. Im gonna leave it here for now. I was gonna analize the teaser too but besides Hyuna and Jacob being hot and the obvious I think it doesnt have enought material for a delulu deep analysis for now or im dumber that i thought! Well see next friday when ZOMBIE STAGE comes out. (Why am I so sure? Cause the teasers usually drop the friday before of the friday they release, but given the date of the release says only June 2026 maybe I could be wrong)
Small theory
(i've already post this in the alnst community by error so i'm reposting it here)
Hyuna is clearly the heroine of Alien Stage and Zombie Stage, as Vivinos also stated in her Patreon post.
Hyuna was created with the intention of being the heroine of the story, although in Alien Stage, Mizi was the protagonist. This time around, it seems clear that the spotlight will be primarily on Hyuna and what torments her (and I'm so happy because this woman is wonderful, I understand why Luka is obsessed with her).
This post isn't just to simp about Hyuna, but to express a theory of mine.
The comic we got with the teaser release isn't from an alternative universe, but rather a scene created by Hyuna's imagination.
Before you tell me anything, let me explain!
In the artwork they released the first time they showed the teaser release date, Hyuna is the only one looking back, but she's not just looking back she's looking at the viewer.
Now, it could easily be a teaser of how she's the only human since the others are all zombies, but then why have her stare directly in front of the camera?
High school au (I've seen it called that, but since they are doing major, I don't know how education works in Korea, and I thought it was a university) is very different from all the other au's, also in how it relates to the canon of the new series.
The only other au that directly addresses the canon of the series is the one with the actors, where Alien Stage is a series/film within the canon and they are, in fact, the actors.
But in this case, would they see themselves acting in a horror film without the awareness of being the actors? I don't know. Vivinos and Qmeng have always been attentive to these types of details. It would be strange to me if they hadn't thought of it.
Not to mention the relationship between Hyuna and Luka, and in general between all the characters. In all the AUs, even the silliest ones, the characters behave broadly the same way as they did in Anakt Garden, and Hyuna and Luka are on good terms in all the other AUs.
Except here, in fact, their relationship with each other is very similar to the canon after Hyunwoo's death, and it's also strange how the tone of the comic changes the moment they interact, like when you're fantasizing about something and then you come into contact with something too real.
Before the interaction between Luka and Hyuna, everything is light and cute; we see the characters perpetuate their old archetypes:
Mizi, sunny and talented, who acts funny
Ivan, master ragebaiter
Till with his "crush" born from his admiration for Mizi
Sua, quiet and calm, who only shows interest in Mizi
Then Luka enters, and everything seems normal except Hyuna, who suddenly fades away, and the tone of everything changes until the movie begins.
So, my theory is that this AU isn't actually a real AU, it's just a figment of Hyuna's imagination, who either frees the zombies, or has been infected, or some other third option that I don't know because it's still just a teaser and I should really get back to working on my university exam instead of writing theories about Alien Stage.
What is Zombie Stage? My personal theory:
Before we begin, please don't shoot me if you don't agree. Let's try to have a civil conversation :D
i've already posted this in the only alnstg community by error so i'm reposing here on my blog (sorry who follows me only for my art some times i like to write about stuff i like)
My English is going to be a little weird.
Until Karma's release, "Alien Stage" was always a one-season show. You can read in various Patreon interviews that the idea for the show was always to end with Karma. BUT after its incredible success and Karma's release, a "second season" was announced. Now, I know some people thought it would be about the children Till saves, but that was never really an option, and we'll see why later. The fandom begged for more content, so Vivimeng served up Zombie Stage, a show that never ends. The characters we saw suffer in Alien Stage continue their suffering on stage, but this time it never ends. We're witnessing the characters' hell on earth, forced to repeatedly repeat what was for them the most traumatic experience of the stage. The Rounds are the same, making us understand that it's not a one-off show, but a continuous performance, and this time there's no religion of death or hope of life, there's only the stage.
Alien Stage was born as a critique of the entertainment industry, which exploits and dehumanizes its tools: the idols. The characters in Alien Stage may not have had an ending that satisfied everyone, but they did have the ending the story demanded. No one got what they wanted, and no one truly left the stage.
Hyuna died with the desire to free humanity with her plan, but it didn't happen due to Mizi's sabotage, and with the desire For Luka to live with love, only to see him continue with his old life, alone, without the only person he ever truly cared about.
Mizi wanted to stay with Sua and her family (the other cast members), but Sua sacrificed herself for her, and now she finds herself wandering with nothing left, still remembering the love they shared without ever gaining the ability to let go, thus rendering Sua's sacrifice pointless as it's like she's dead.
Ivan died to save Till, thinking he would be hated. Consequently, he hoped that Till's hatred for him wouldn't make him grieve, only to then make Till realize his own feelings for him. And even if Till continues to live and have hope, he will never be able to completely let go of what has happened.
Returning to the children for a moment, they were never meant to have a real personality or purpose beyond what the story required. They are a tangible proof of how far the explosion can go when it means putting on a show. All this may seem like a Unsatisfactory, it leaves us with a bitter taste in our mouths and the desire for more. I myself am one of those people who hoped to see theories that they are all actually alive. But that's not the case because the characters have run their course and this is the final ending. As sad and unsatisfying as it may seem, it's the best way to conclude and get the message across.
Only the message hasn't gotten across, and that's why we have the zombie stage. Now I want to clarify that no one is really sad about it. I'm very happy to have more content and I'm sure that the money that will flow into the pockets of all the people working on the project will make them equally happy. This "theory" of mine is just to express what I think is the message of this series. I could easily be wrong. After all, only a teaser was released, but for me, that's what the series wants to say and do: to make us say a final goodbye to these characters and show us that if we don't let them go, we'll continue to make them suffer. I find it very bittersweet that Hyuna is once again the one having to Free them, but I have another theory for that, which I'll write shortly after this one.
In conclusion, don't worry about the characters' deaths, because they're already dead and forced to repeat the same infinite gimmicks.
