A Menace to Society

A box of kittens was given away for free in an elementary school parking lot here. This is the largest city in my state. One of the kittens became ill and later tested positive for rabies. All of the other kittens in the box and every single person who petted them in the parking lot had to be tracked down, and many of these people had to get painful and incredibly expensive shots. The kitten obviously died. I still have no idea if the people giving away said kittens were ever found and hopefully they were not bitten.

Local bird MASQUERADES as a man!

i’m doing a longform piece for Offrange focused on herding dogs, and i’m looking to speak to a few people as individuals - i already have great contacts in the industry! this piece is centered around how overbreeding of ‘pet’ herding breeds & livestock guardian breeds has both overall hindered those breeds’ success and has left pet owners with unmanageable dogs that often do poorly in average households without enough to stimulate them. i’m looking to speak to anyone who:

bought a working dog and found it to be unable of doing the job (and you feel like the circumstances are relevant to poor breeding)

adopted a herding/LGD breed as a pet and regretted your decision or adapted to your lifestyle but found it a struggle

a vet, vet tech, kennel professional or other who has to work with many of these dogs
