🪶 📜 What remains after empires fade?

From the last songs of Tasmania's First Peoples to my grandfather's journey through WWII Burma, and sacred landscapes this poem is a meditation on ancestry, identity, survival, and the traces we leave behind in this great tapestry of humanity.

They borrowed the rhythm. The moves. The swag. But when it came time to show our faces—they erased us.

BTS's "Arirang" teaser set at Howard University in 1896 showed a crowd that was mostly white. At an HBCU. In the middle of Jim Crow.

And when Black fans spoke up? Excuses. Deflections. "It's just art."

This isn't about canceling. It's about calling out a centuries-old pattern: taking from Black culture while pretending Black people don't exist.

So we asked the question nobody wants to answer:

If this were your partner—would you stay or leave?

Because love isn't just borrowing someone's flavor. It's seeing their face. Hearing their voice. Respecting their history.
