Hii well I can say the design has been updated a lot since my first few drawings but I ultimately decided that instead of unspecified stabby tongues for him I'd actually use some characteristics of staphylinids which I feel are a very overlooked family and they have a lot of cool stuff going on I could use. So the Stenus beetles (actual irl genus) can shoot out their labium like this kinda and it has an adhesive tip to snare prey. After drawing the above I realised that my guy (full name Nettle Rove) would probably also have some kind of adhesive on there. Although unlike the irl beetles he doesn't pre-digest his prey.

The palps, when open, mimic a type of flower from his world. Something comes along looking for nectar and gets hit with the insect equivalent of a captive bolt rifle. Ouch lol
