I messed up the cover on one of the new binds for this one, so the illustrator is getting the original copy I bound in 2024 and the writer is getting a new bind from this month. I included thank you cards and a zine I made of some of my favorite Kim moments where he is extremely normal.

I love the logo stamp my friend made for me.

This project was unfortunately on hold for months because my library, which was my only printing resource, changed the way they format prints; I couldn’t get anything to print the right way up. It was so frustrating! I’m not willing to pay for prints at FedEx or whatever, plus I’ve been wanting to expand my zine offerings (which are original stories/poems/essays), so I saved up for a printer! Bought one in January 2026 and now I can print in COLOR. I’m excited!

Thank you for writing such a great story! It’s one of my favorites for Disco Elysium—the classic noir vibe is so well done. I’m thrilled you liked the binding!

Cyborg Jack Press now has a finishing stamp I can apply whenever I get a ficbind done! I went back and added it to all the books I’ve finished so far, and I’m planning for it to be the final step as I finish off 5 ficbinds over the next few weeks (I’m at the trimming stage, which I’m bad at).

I enjoyed a lot of The Magnus Archives one-off short fics, so I put together another anthology! This theme is around workplace relationships. The horror takes a back-seat to coworker drama.

I dug into my calligraphy supplies again to make a title ‘card’ for the cover out of a 3x5 notecard. Ripping the corner was deliberate, I like how it looks. The cover paper for this one ended up more ‘zebra’ than ‘The Spiral,’ but the endpapers are poppin.

I used a bookplate designed by @theshitpostcalligrapher and I think I’m going to use it for all my TMA binds. It’s such a good reference!

I found a cassette tape graphic and got some good mileage out of that.

I also have been having a good time with typography again. Picking different fonts for the various statements was fun!

In the fic, I loved the incorporation of dead languages and historical references (my favorite part of vampire AUs: the history potential!). I decided to include these as footnotes in the grand tradition of Sir Terry Pratchett.

I really like the cover paper for this. I tried printing out the title and am not sure I love how it ended up, but the cover’s homemade paper is just gorgeous.

Ficbind complete for a Disco Elysium fanfic I was absolutely delighted to find, because it’s illustrated!

The Long View Down by Rin/kriegersan on AO3 was a well-written continuation of the game with the new perspective of the NPC no one wants to disappoint: Lieutenant Kim Kitsuragi. It reads like a noir book and I tried to keep it flimsy like noir often is, but I did use some of this bright orange handmade paper for a book of my own (I used it for a book I was sending to my friend that's in a completely different fandom—handmade paper is the gift that keeps giving and giving and giving...).

I’ve followed J. R. Doyle’s comics and illustration work since the early days of Knights Errant and absolutely love their style. It fits in so well with the dark storyline, and had the bonus of being black-and-white already so I could still print it successfully!

I went for a kind of old-fashioned way of including the illustrations—I added quotes from the text under the pictures, as I perceived them fitting into the story. I had an appendix of the illustrations and quotes at the end of the book.

Another ficbind down! This one I put together at the request of a friend. It’s one of her favorite fics for a pairing that really took over her brain real estate for the past 3-4 years or so.

When she asked for Something So Dear by forthesanityof1, I checked and it’s over 180k words. My longest ficbind so far. I had to work up to this one—got a few bookbinding projects done and then tackled this.

The title page is really simple and uses a lovely ornament by @cmdonovann that I got through the Renegade Bindery server, which has been such a wealth of resources. I slapped together the chapter ornaments myself, trying to work out a balance of flower and tattoo design (because it’s the whole premise of the fic).

Sorted out that pesky recto-verso problem, thank goodness.

I also had some fun figuring out how to build out the text conversations in the fic. I’ve been typesetting a lot since February and have employed a different strategy each time to denote texting. There’s some chat fics I like but constructing the typesets for those will be a… much later project. Compiled social media history stories are really cool to see and I want to do them justice. This one has just a few minor pieces of text in chat format, so I played with typesetting that.

This one was almost done by the end of Binderary, I just had to tape in the prints I bought ages ago from feriowind (who’s here on tumblr!). I like storing good art and good fic together in one place so I can enjoy them both together.

Pacific Rim was the first fandom I tried writing fic for, and it’s still my favorite movie.

There are some small details here (like the binding and cover paper—kaiju blue!) that are callouts or in-jokes just for me. Which is for the best: this is a bit of a messy bind, and I ran into similar printer problems that messed up my recto/verso goals, unfortunately.

Still, I’m glad I have these fics in hardcopy, collected and preserved just for me! Two epic-length Pacific Rim fics have been taken down over the years I’ve been part of this fandom (cleanwhiteroom and jamnesias, I still remember you… you wrote some things I really enjoyed…), and while I found backups of Designations Congruent With Things, the other is lost to me. I really have to hang on to the fics I care about! This was a decent start.

My first ficbind! It’s just for me so I don’t feel bad that the endpapers got scrunched or that I messed up recto-verso printing standards.

pentapus wrote some of my favorite Naruto fanfics that I come back to again and again. The whole cast is well-written and the situations drive pentapus’ fics in wonderful, world-expanding ways that I always want to read for Naruto.

Designing the title page was really fun! This is a story that has a lot of paperwork and bureaucracy details, which are sincerely my favorite part of any worldbuilding.

I got the cover paper from a secondhand art supply store that I adore. The spine paper is cardstock I stole from work. I don’t have access to a printer except through my public library or, if I want to pay, a print shop. Because I wasn’t sure how everything would print up, I went for library printing. This meant I couldn’t print on anything but the standard paper in the machines; I had to handwrite the title. All my fine-tip sharpies were dry, so I ended up breaking out my dip pen.

First Binderary is complete! The process was super fun. I really enjoyed learning how to typeset, how to exploit my library’s free printing, visiting the secondhand art supply store, attempting French stitching… I made a lot of mistakes and had a lot of fun digging through my many art supplies to make these fic bindings happen. I also came up with a press name and logo! Gonna see if I can get my friend to make me an official stamp for my press.
