He wouldn’t turn until he heard the tap on the nightstand, looking back at the other before he smiled faintly. Well, he sure had managed with just one arm. He supposed people would get used to it, it seemed that the boy had lived with it with quite some time. Unlucky wasn’t so certain he would be able to cope with such a thing as well. But then, there was little choice in it.
“ Ah, you got it… Uhm, are you feeling alright? ” the awkwardness of the situation dawned upon Unlucky like a brick the moment he wasn’t as concerned, fidgeting with his ears. “ Ah… As I said, I’m very sorry it… It’s my ability that got out of hand… And you got caught in it… Uhm, they told me we’ll offer you compensation if you would like as… They wanna keep it quiet- ”
Sighing, he fixed his eyes on the heroes hands, in case he would decide to use sign language. “ Someone else will probably talk to you about it… Just so you do not have to worry… If you wish me to leave, I will go though… I just… ”
This was really weird of him. wasn’t it? What a weird, weird rabbit you are Unlucky. Looking rather dejected, if not embarrassed he tugged on his ear. “ I wanted to make sure you weren’t hurt to badly because of me… I’m sorry. ”
JJ’s gaze remained onto Unlucky for some time as they talked, patiently listening; a bonus for lacking much ability to coherently speak. He knew well enough to spot an awkward sense of behaviour, after all, he’s grown up with a similar affliction since he first could recall...
Eventually, his eyes drifted to his own hand, realizing now as to what the Rabbit might have been expecting - Sure, he can’t produce the most eloquent respone with a single hand, but it was better than silence. Or talking. After his realization, JJ lifted the one hand carefully, still aching from their injury, and slowly offered their answer to Unlucky.
[Yes. No compensation. I do not. I am fine.]
Simple, short answers to save the Rabbit the panic of waiting, and deciphering all his answers!
At the end...His cheeks dimpled, an obvious indication that he was smiling behind his mask, but at what? Perhaps it was the fact that they gestured to their missing arm, lower legs, and finally their face, before they gave a final response.
[Had worse. Do not worry. But explain. Why blame you?]
