Connor has poked his head in to see if Merlyn is currently busy. "Mx.Mer?" @cyberlifefailsafe
"Yes, hello Connor?" She looks up from the small thing she'd been tinkering with. "What's up?"
"I have a request, though you appear busy. I can come back later."
"Oh, this?" she pushes the project aside. "It's nothing that can't wait. Go ahead and ask."
"I was wondering if you'd be willing to examine me. I am aware that you do not have all the advancements I do, but I would be willing to walk you through it."
"Of course!" Mer smiles, and stands up from her worktable. "Alright, how do we do this so that you are most comfortable?"
"Have you an x-ray?"
"Yes, I think I do." They start walking around the lab, looking for where they had put it - they hadn't needed one for a bit so it was a little buried and partially disassembled. "Why don't you go pull up a chair?"
Connor takes it from them and sits. "All you should needs is a keyboard and mouse next. I can do the rest."
"Alright." Mer nods, and grabs those things from a nearby pile of spares. Then she sets them within Connor's reach and sits across from him.
Connor is able to connect the screen to himself, the image displaying options. On the side, there is a map of his body, the other are selections. "Normally I'd do something different but your tech isn't quite caught up with mine. I hope this will do."
"Me too, Connor," she says. "Now... What precisely did you need my help with?"
"There are a few functions I cannot check myself, they should be listed under the tab "PAS.""
"Okay." They navigate to that tab and begin looking through it.
Most of his functions are in working order, there are a few levels that are too low or too high. Stress is too high, his sleep pattern is inconsistent, his mood patterns are mostly low as well. But besides that, his injuries appear to be healing nicely.
Merlyn relays that information as she reads it, and turns the monitor to ensure that Connor can read it too.
"So... I must recommend you get a better sleep schedule going, hypocritical as that is of me, and we should probably figure out what's got you so stressed but other than that we're good."
"I am aware of my condition as well as it's cause. I am choosing to ignore it until I am able to complete my mission. If anything, this was to see if my internal injuries are healing as expected, and they are."

"No."
"Then Igor will not ask," he nods, "But Igor is always willing to listen if Sir Connor does. Talking about hard things can help, sometimes."
Connor nods back, not meeting Igor's eyes.
"In the meantime..." Igor goes back to rocking in the rocking chair. "Is there anything Igor can do to help Sir Connor feel more at home here?"
"No, thank you. I prefer not to be a bother."
"And Igor enjoys taking care of people, it would be no bother," he insists. "But if there is nothing then there is nothing."
Connor sighs a little, "As long as we are being honest, this is the longest I've lived in a home. Before I was either not online or had only been to android rest stops. I am not sure what would be considered normal to ask...I would not mind assistance if you'd be alright with that."
"Igor is fine with that, yes," he nods a few more times, "Sir Connor can just ask anything, and if it is too much Igor will say so, and say why."
He nods, "Thank you."
"It is no trouble," Igor says.
"I should go." He stands, "I hope to see you later."
"Igor is easy to find if Sir Connor ever wishes to," he says, looking up at Connor. "Have a good day then."
"You as well." Connor leaves but Sumo stays.

"No."
"I have made a mistake in the form of allowing temperature to effect me. I heavily dislike it."
Igor shuffles up to Connor and drapes a fuzzy purple blanket over the latter's shoulders.
"Igor saw Sir Connor was cold... Igor tries, but bare stone is not the warmest thing this time of year." he instinctively brings a hand up to pat Connor's arm, before pausing. "Ah, is touch okay right now?"
Connor nods, "That is alright. What do you mean by bare stone though?" The bot was dressed warmly and yet was still cold, so the blanket was much appreciated.
"The castle walls," Igor says, smiling crooked-toothed and patting Connor's arm a few times, in an affectionate, almost paternal, way. "Igor remembers when there were tapestries, but they got in the way of The Master's traps and secret passages..."
"Tapestries? What did those look like?" Connor softens just a tad once Igor pats his arm. He was slowly warming up to the idea of affection.
"Many were depictions of the history of this place, and the family who has always ruled it," Igor says, gaze going a little distant. "Battles, important changes to the castle itself, Arthur Pendragon the first receiving Caledfwlch and his many exploits with it, along with the wizard Merlin Ambroaz..." He hums a little, in his raspy voice. "And there were also others, showing the myths of Camelot and what is now called Wales, showing animals and forests and oceans... When the Master moved the castle here, they left behind a museum to house those in, for the preservation of at least some history. Including photos of how they looked on the walls."
He does save this information but is more worried about the distant look in Igor's eyes. Connor very gently takes one of Igor's hands, he's heard it helps keeping someone present in the moment. "If it would not bother you, would you like to go see it?"
"Igor would certainly not mind," he says, smiling again and squeezing Connor's hand softly. "It is good to revisit old memories sometimes, Igor thinks." His eyes were focused on the here and now once more. "And Igor has a lot of those, Igor has been around so long... Is Sir Connor warm enough now? Igor would also have made tea, but..."
His hand is warm, Connor is no longer lightly shivering. "I am at a regular temperature. Though food isn't an option, drinks can be helpful for cooling or warming." While he is curious on how long Igor has been alive for, he thinks now is not the time. "What about yourself, are you warm enough?" He discreetly scans to check the temperature.
Igor cackles a little, some of the stitches on his face puckering. "Igor is fine, the cold never bothered Igor. But the concern is appreciated. Sir Connor is very kind." He squeezes Connor's hand again, and ruffles his hair. "And it is good to know that drinks can be helpful to Sir Connor. Igor will remember that."
It's at this point that Connor realizes it would be smart to let Merlyn and Igor know what exactly Connor can and cannot have. Along with adding a note about Igor's cold tolerance, Connor checks his data one more time. He'd been thinking about it for a week or two, but he officially trusts Igor.
Igor brings his hand back down.
"Now, would Sir Connor like to go sit by the fireplace? Even if warm enough already, that is a pleasant thing in the winter."
"Am I allowed to bring Sumo? He has been playing outside with the goats."
"Yes, Igor thinks that will be fine. Sumo is well-behaved," he nods.
He smiles a little and goes off to get his dog.
Igor shuffles away to make some tea, and brings a tray of it to the living room with the fireplace, to meet Connor there.
It takes a few minutes to locate his dog but Connor eventually comes back in, Sumo following.
Igor is waiting outside of the door for Connor when he arrives, just to make sure he knew which place was the right one. He smiles when he sees Connor.
"Igor has made some tea, just in case... It is even colder outside, after all."
Sumo has trotted up to Igor and started licking his face.
"Oh, thank you. I might need it after all. Sumo thought I was playing and hid." He wasn't quite as cold but was sure to be if he didn't care for himself.
Igor cackles softly and pets Sumo for a time. "Sir Connor is welcome, Igor enjoys making tea anyway." He shuffles back inside the room. "Is Sumo a winter dog then?"
"Yes, I've found he enjoys cold weather. Though I do have to minimize his time, he is old and his joints would get too cold." Sumo calms around Igor the same way he does with Connor.
Igor nods, and sets up a cushion on the floor for Sumo, a small distance from the crackling fire behind the grate. "Igor is glad someone enjoys it, many people do not."
Sumo happily sits on the cushion.
Connor hesitates to make note of someone from his past, "I used to know a human who did. He'd pretend to be grumpy but of course he eventually smiled."
"Humans can be like that," he agrees. "Igor finds it endearing, most of the time... The Master was similar about stuffed animals in their youth."
He sits down in a rocking chair with a huff.
"This person you knew... Would Sir Connor like to talk about him?"
"Maybe another time." He is a little too quick to answer that, not that Connor could help his emotional response. It wasn't exactly an easy subject, not with how it ended.
He nods. "Well, Igor is always happy to listen, if Sir Connor wishes to speak."
He gestures towards another nearby chair.
"Come, sit," he says, "Sir Connor should be comfortable."
Connor stations himself next to Igor. "What about humans you have met? Is there anyone besides Mx. Merlyn that you've taken a liking to?"
"Igor has friends," he says, "But most of the people around here are not human... And in Igor's experience, most humans are uncomfortable around Igor... that is why Igor has stayed at this castle so long, despite the unpleasantness of some previous Masters."
He pours two cups of tea, a rose and lemon blend, and hands one to Connor, before taking a sip of his own.
"But... There were a few. The Old Master, the one who made Igor... he was a good soul. He was searching for answers, about life and death and the difference between them. How to cross the boundary in reverse..." Igor's gaze goes a little wistful again. "The Old Master always helped anyone he could, anyone who asked... Though, his help was not always what they wanted or expected."
Connor can't help but think of Frankenstein, though he says nothing. He is able to identify every ingredient in his tea, while he likes lemon, rose does not taste as nice to him. His expression remains neutral however.
"I am sorry you had to deal with unpleasant people in the past. Though is this how you came to know Mx. Merlyn?"
Igor notes the neutral expression out the corner of his eye, silently deciding to try another one later, until he found one that made Connor smile.
"Not precisely..." the chair creaks as Igor rocks it slowly. "But it is related. After the Old Master died - he was only human, and ran afoul of one too many pitchforks bless his soul, Igor was left to wander for a time. Igor only had Igor's own self and the tricks the Old Master had taught Igor. But that was enough to impress The Master's.... Oh, it would have been their great-great-great-grandfather - into letting Igor stay at the castle, as both guard and gardener..."
That would be hard within itself. Connor did not smile often. Although, whichever he drank the quickest would give it away.
"Hm, combining the position makes sense if one thinks about it. Assuming the garden is close to the area, spotting any deviants would be easy, and even if the traps weren't set up then, could still get to them in enough time." The android turns a tad sheepish, he did not mean to reveal that he'd also been keeping an eye on Merlyn, he was fond of her and wanted her to not be in any danger. At least when he could be around.
"Igor would not call them deviants," he says, "foreign armies have always been more likely." He continues rocking in the chair. "But Sir Connor is correct, being out in the field helps with spotting troublemakers. And Igor's... constitution... makes Igor well-suited to driving them away. Especially since the traps did not come until The Master was able to take charge a decade or so ago."
"My apologies, force of habit. That is what we primary called our rouge androids. I had a job similar to yours, well, in parts. While I was made to be a detective, my personal mission shifted to another. The same human I mentioned earlier. I was to assist him in cases, but one in particular showed that I had grown an attachment to him. I am unsure if it was my Social Relations Protocol or if I saw he wanted the company, but I ended up trying to protect him too." It seems Connor wants to open up a little more about his human. Or, father figure rather.
"It could even have been that it is difficult to assist someone in cases if they are dead or injured," Igor nods thoughtfully, "Or it could simply mean that Sir Connor came to care for this human, spending time around them does that..."
He grins, snagletoothed. "A wonderful thing to experience, in the latter case. But, what would Igor know? Igor was not there."
He nods, "It was." He grows quiet, sipping his tea.
Igor nods back, quiet for a few moments.
"So, this human was a detective? Igor has not met many of those, what was he like?"
Connor's voice unintentionally softens. "The lieutenant performed his tasks more adequately than others might think. He's admittedly broken protocol on numerous occasions, yet it was the better move as I've come to learn. He was angered by my presence in the beginning, understandably so. And still. He is the one that essentially taught me I was alive and encouraged me to act myself."
"He sounds like a good man," Igor says, smiling softly. He gently puts a hand over Connor's.
Connor pulls away, "Was." He corrects.
Igor pulls his hand back, expression falling a little. "Then Igor is sorry he is gone."
"There is no need for you to apologize. You were not the reason he died." Connor was, at least, that's what he felt. And logically, it was as well. Since it had been a while since he thought about it, his emotions cam in quick, the android was unable to keep a few tears from spilling.
