Your eyes went down to his, hearing his plea, you knew you were doing the right thing.
To be mindful, you looked into his thoughts, to see if he was a lost traveler, or perhaps looking for someone in this large city. Color you surprised when you saw what looked like the figure of a man surrounded by other creatures like himself, a portal of sorts as well too. Your eyes widened slightly with surprise, and you wondered if he knew your boss; your sister. It was an unspoken taboo, but you knew her secret, that she was a time traveler herself. Made you wonder how small this universe truly was if this new face did in fact know her. Only one way to know to find out.
The silver hedgehog looked like he was going through the ringer. You cursed the crowds for how annoying they could be, squinting your eyes shut before your head went to cant to the side, pondering on what to do. The last thing you wanted was to draw attention (and more mental anguish) to yourself and the smaller underneath, removing a hand from your pocket to bring it to scratch at the scruff of your chin, idly waiting for lightning to strike. Your eyes went to the skyline of the city, towering buildings with adertisements over them, zoning out for a moment before a large billboard in the distance grabbed your attention. On it was a girl you knew too well thanks to a very brief shared history, one that ended in awkward silences lately. Not that now was the time to think on that but- you did remember something key about her. She was an idol, and international celebrity. One who was the poster child for beauty and voice. The perfect distraction.
Triumphant in your scheme, you shot the hedgehog a toothy Cheshire grin, gleaming. "--Just wait here a second."
Next thing you knew you were removing the unlit cigarette from your mouth to shove it back into your pocket. You then began turning on your heel, pointing in a random direction as far from where the two of you were. Was there a chance you damaged your vocal chords for a brief time over this, yes did you care, no. Nothing a few cough drops couldn't fix down the line.
"--IS THAT ADELINDA LEHMANN OVER THERE? I SWEAR SHE'S COMING DOWN THIS WAY!!!"
"What, where?" called one bystander, soon causing most of the crowd to turn their direction towards the random spot you pointed in. Their voices both vocal and not causing tensions to pulse in your temples, but you were determined to tough it out just a little longer.
"--OVER THERE!" You called out again, taking the chance to rush around, grabbing the Hedgehog's large glove to make a dash for the closest Alleyway.
Your plan was going so well! Up until the point it didn't. You might have gotten the two of you away from the sea of people, but a loose boot strap caused you to trip over yourself, causing you to meet the sidewalk and fall over, scraping your knee in the process.
Well, you almost nailed it.
