Incubator

Just need one for Dvailinn and a “self” tag.

It’s a rare thing that they act directly; something has to become a significant threat beyond the scope of other entities for them to lift a finger.  And even then, if said threat poses no risk to the Incubators’ ultimate goal, they’ll usually just let it happen.

Like, it’s something that happens in canon.  But they are talking about the pros and cons of eating him.

♔—;; “Tch, why not just kill us and rid yourself of a problem before it has a chance to start?” he asked, perhaps foolishly. “Unless you think you can’t.”

　　 It made little sense to him why anyone would simply wait for something to become a problem; it hadn’t made any sense to him when it had been suggested with the Arrancars’ own enemy, and it didn’t make any sense now why anyone would observe for much longer than necessary to assess their weaknesses.

　　 …Unless that was what this creature was doing.

　　 “It’s not wasteful if I eat you afterwards,” the Arrancar countered, speaking as though it was obvious. “I’ve killed and eaten bigger than you.”

Unnervingly, Kyubey had almost no reaction to the threats of being eaten--save, perhaps, for a thoughtful tilt of the head.

“Hmm, no.  I suppose it wouldn’t be.”

“And if would certainly save me the trouble of having to do so.”

Not that consuming his expired bodies took any great deal of effort, but the thought was noted all the same.

Was Kyubey assessing weakness?  In a sense, perhaps; he was certainly making a thorough survey of the Arrancar with each meeting, taking careful note of strength and weakness alike.  But so long as Grimmjow and his like kept to their ways and didn’t interfere with their business, there would be no need for the Incubators to expend the effort of stepping in and using those findings in whatever way proved necessary.  It was really as simple as that.

(Of course, if some other entity chose to dispose of the issue, independent of the Incubators’ observations...)
