Harlequin pattern:

Step 1, draw crisscrossing lines on multiple layers (Preferably just the 2, but it might work with more?)

Step 2, duplicate the layers and make the duplicates invisible (these can be deleted at the end)

Step 3, select the nontransparent areas in one of the invisible areas (You can easily do this by holding control and clicking the layer image in SAI, or just use the magic wand tool)

Step 4, erase on the opposite direction layer

Step 5, repeat steps 3 and 4, but for the other direction

Step 6, ???

I made tutorials on how to do a mandala-esque marking (except….obviously do it neater than that cuz I’m a lazy butthole) and a stylized rose o3o  Two pretty easy markings that can make something look super intricate/detailed, but they’re very easy to make once you get the hang of it and practice some!
