I believe that it would be interesting if Simon make a whole deal of giving his name to someone else.
I have this headcanon that in Eden giving your name -your real name not your nickname- is something very intimidate, because it is the only possession that you keep through all your life and it is only yours. It is not like us that we have a name and a last name or more, for example I have two names and two last names.
In Eden you only have one name and thats it, and they wouldn't want everyone to call them by their only name, that is for more special people, so they use the nicknames.
The nicknames in Eden are base in you role, in what you represent, Simon gets the Butcher, because his job is to dismember the corpses of those who had die to feed the Last Tree, and because he has show to be violent in fights, he represents the violence needed to survive.
The last time that Simon gave his name, when he gave it to Ava, was out of fear that no one would remember him, that he would pass through all that hell just to be refered as a convict without name.
The Eel has been the last "person" to call Simon by his name, but he didn't choose to give her his name, she stole it from him. Somehow, she was able to take it from his mind and twist what is suppose to be something just use by people who he had carefully choose, and yet, she ripped it out of his mind.
Extra Grace + Rocky:
I think that when Simon meets Grace and Rocky he would introduce himself as The Convict or The Butcher. This nicknames may carry bad memories on them, but at least there are not as vulnerable as Simon's name. In addition, they also tell who he is, what he has done, and he can use them as a warning of what he capable to do.
Grace and Rocky, think is a little weird, but the play along at the start, "if that is what The Butcher wants, well we are refering him like The Butcher then". Rocky presents himself as Rocky, not trying to translate his whole Eridian name, and Grace, who has been referring to himself as Grace for a long time, just presents himself with his last name without thinking to much of it.
With time Simon grows out of those nicknames, he feel uncomfortable with them, because he has become something more than than a criminal and a bloody man. Rocky gives him an Eridian nickname, which Grace translate, maybe something in the lines of "survivor", "fighter" or "plants caretaker" something possitive, and it becomes its whole new nickname for Simon, who is quite happy and sensible of having gain another nickname, this time a nice one.
It is not until months later that Simon looks Grace in the eyes and tells him that his name is Simon, and Grace, who may have forgot that he has another name by this point, confess that his first name is Ryland, and Simon feels even more close to Grace because he has also choose to give him his name in return.
Extra Extra:
I think that at some point Rocky and Adrian should translate their names, like all of it, using the equivalent of human names or words, it would be funny, I think, like maybe Rocky's real name is translated to "the most persistant eridian" or just eridian equivalent to John.
Extra Extra Extra:
I found very cute the idea that Simon means "to listen" and Ryland "land of rye", because Ryland needs someone who would listen all his ramblings, and Simon would appreciate someone who is able to grow in hard conditions.

Ok, inspiration credit goes to @beloved13579 for having such an amazing brain, but I'm combining their "Simon calls Grace 'Angel' as a title out of fear, like 'Sir' or 'King'" and my hybrid AU, along with like, SEVERAL headcanons I have :)
Tags: BloodyMary (obvs), religious trauma, fear, mild internalized homophobia if you squint, language barrier, repressing feelings, outbursts, hurt/comfort
Simon being trapped, barely conscious, in the tree he tried so hard to save. The eel being just as conscious. Essentially sharing a body via the tree means they don't need to speak to hear each other. The eel berates him, telling him that only the light- the angel- can save him now, and he should be grateful if it ever chooses to.
The tree, meanwhile, has been searching for somewhere safe for the human who risked and paid everything to survive, to save the seed it grew from. It finds a haven in a not-so-distant universe, on a planet that doesn't exist in their universe.
Simon wakes up in a soft bed, hearing something like English, or Martian? It sounds... Biblical. Like the passages Father would read from that old book that was barely holding on, that had been digitized when the spine finally fell apart, and the holy book itself was made into fertilizer for the Last Tree.
He looks around, seeing clean, new equipment. An IV drip in his arm. He can still hear that ancient voice, but it's mixed with musical notes. He looks towards the open doorway, really just an arch to mark where one room ends and the next begins, and sees what must be the Angel that the eel wouldn't stop shouting about. It's humanoid, but it has golden wings, matching the gold hair on its head, looking like a halo.
Simon's eyes are wide, something is beeping rapidly, the Angel turns to him, looking... Worried? No. Maybe annoyed. But surely the Angel wouldn't be worried about the Butcher. Even if the Angel had decided that he'd repented for his sins in life, he has to behave now that he was in heaven. Or maybe it was somewhere between, while the Angel and God decided where to put him.
The Angel is checking him for something, he doesn't know what, but it's talking a lot, in the old English he barely understands.
"Hey, hey it's okay! Take a breath, okay? Can you do that?" The Angel asks, and Simon understands that it's not really a request, and he's glad he can understand enough to know what to do. He sucks in a breath, and let's it out harshly. Earning praise from the Angel and a request order to do it again.
Eventually, Simon's calm enough to actually listen to the Angel, understanding slightly more than before now that he's focused on listening instead of panicking. The Angel's name is Grace, as if it weren't already obvious that what's in front of him is his Devine Judgement. He tries to speak the Angel's language, introduce himself to his terrifying Savior. But his words are choppy, or slurred. It's been years since he's said a prayer or hymn.
The Angel is forgiving, smiling at him kindly, and thanks him for telling it his name, as if he had a choice.
A few days pass. The Angel is patient, letting Simon recover at his own pace. He supposes that redeeming a soul takes more work than just suffering for who knows how long; he has to be rehabilitated in order to be allowed inside heaven, even if this space already feels heavenly.
He learns how to speak English more fluently and, despite the Angel's protests, only gives him more epithets and titles.
Angel, Savior, Healer, Teacher. Sometimes, Simon thinks he could find a way to use Lover, if he were brave enough, if he truly thought the Angel loved him, instead of performing a duty.
The Angel doesn't seem to mind Teacher as much as the other titles, but it he says he still doesn't like how Simon says it, even though Simon doesn't know how else he could say it.
"Like a teacher is something to be feared. I don't want you, or anyone for that matter, to fear me. I'm a human, like you. No better or less." Simon's Savior would say, but he's just being humble, just like an Angel.
Simon breaks a rule once, almost a month in, and he begs forgiveness. He admits his transgression and hopes for but does not expect his Savior's mercy. He does not cry. Not until he's met with gentle touches and kind words and understanding and complete, utter forgiveness.
His Angel (his Grace, as he's come to accept that he's not an actual angel, but the last known avian hybrid was killed before Simon was ten, so this is still undoubtedly the afterlife) forgives him without a second thought, seeming mortified by the idea that they would cast Simon out over "something as small as not finishing his food."
Food, and water, and fresh air are in abundance here. But Simon still can't take them for granted. They could be taken from him at any time. Even if his Savior's name means mercy, he shouldn't expect it. Even as time passes he learns how to relax, how to play with the tiny living pebbles, and how to talk with the larger living rocks. He knows how to live here, he could do so forever and be happy.
He plays along, but Simon can't believe his Healer when he says he saved the stars and planets. That humanity is alive on Earth, only 16 light-years away.
His fear lessens, but doesn't leave him, not completely.
It's only after months of this that he's relaxed enough for his mind and body to start processing all of his trauma. He has nightmares. Night after night. Waking in a cold sweat and breathing heavily. He refuses to ask his Grace for more help, though now he knows it would be given not just willingly, but happily.
One night is particularly bad. He's woken up by something-someone? And his first instinct is to attack, thinking it's that damned eel again, or maybe one of his more violent cell mates.
But it's Grace. His Grace. His Angel. His blood runs cold. He's spilled enough of it, he didn't want to spill any more, and especially not Grace's. Never Grace's. And now his nose is bleeding, and the sight of blood on his Savior's face sends him reeling. He reaches out to touch, to hold, to comfort, to help the way Grace does often when Simon scrapes himself in the garden, and stops short when Grace flinches away.
Grace's eyes are glossy, shining with unshed tears. Hurt, betrayed, and Simon is sure he looks no better, but he swears to never be the cause of that look ever again- if he's ever forgiven for hurting something so holy. Permitted to stay in this equally terrifying and relieving plane of existence.
He mumbles and whispers apologies, his throat closing up as he tries to beg, curling in on himself, hoping his Healer will give him enough grace to leave him there, to not punish him, not yet, because surely this deserved punishment.
Just as the first time he had begged forgiveness, his fear and guilt are met with kindness. A soft voice, if a bit stuffy, and a gentle touch that he can't resist leaning into, desperate for that very human comfort of skin on skin. He feels soft wings wrap around him, shielding him from the world and, perhaps, judgement.
Maybe his Grace has begun to love him, enough to shield him from judgement. It must be a risky move, even if he's technically not an angel.
Armando patches Grace up, and they're both so tired that they collapse on the couch together.
Simon wakes in Grace's arms, both of them wrapped securely in those gorgeous wings. He can't bring himself to wake his Grace, not when he's being held so tenderly, like he's something precious and loveable. His time here had made him want more than he ever has before. He wants things he shouldn't be thinking of. Simon is selfish enough to know he's not worthy of such treatment, but he savors it anyway, hoping to stay like this for the day.
Okay but AU where hybrids exist??? Grace being a bird hybrid, sent into space with barely enough wing care products because DuBois just so happened to be another avian? Completely different birds, but they already had his packed, and it'd take too long to get a full stock of Grace's preferred products.
Of course, there are plain humans. No extra features for them to care for or show off party tricks about. But regular humans are also less likely to have the coma-resistant gene, meaning most of the Project Hail Mary team, the ones staying on earth included, were hybrids.
So when Rocky and Grace find Simon, Grace knows he's human. Even though Rocky thinks he's missing 3 limbs and has deformed claws (feet).
Simon wakes up to a humanoid with big, newly preened feathers, extra shiny from using the wrong products, and knows without a doubt that he's in heaven, because hybrids didn't make it past the Quiet Rapture. Most were on a planet, and those who weren't were seen as resource drains. It didn't take long for the ones on Eden to be turned into fertilizer for the Last Tree.
So even if he's not looking at an angel (and he might as well be, he's too pretty to be real-) Simon knows he's dead, because avians don't exist anymore. And neither do the stars.
Heya, so I have thoughts on Miles "Tails" Prower and him having multiple tails.
I know it doesn't really make sense, but I've had this headcanon since I first started watching TAOSAT and Sonic X.
Kitsune is the Japanese word for fox, but it's also commonly used to talk about fox spirits, who are usually very smart, crafty, and sly. Trickster spirits, in every sense. I'm sure this isn't news to the Sonic fandom, but it's important that I know you know what I'm talking about.
They also usually have more than one tail.
Tails was bullied and practically chased out of his home town on Westside because of his extra tail.
I have really no actual basis for this other than those. But I really love the idea of Tails being an immortal spirit who can only die via murder (how his parents died, in my head) and will grow more tails and become more powerful as time goes on.
I've spent way too much time on this in my head, so here's a whole new facet to the Sonic world no one asked for.
There used to be a thriving society of multi-tailed foxes, the nine-tailed were the oldest and most powerful, the two-tailed were the youngest and weakest. Though that's not to say that they are weak. Of the children of Mobius, the two-tailed foxes tended to be the most resilient and the smartest, usually only rivaled by the echidna's brawn and stubbornness.
But, as mortals are want to do, they decided that the multi-tailed foxes held too much power. Both innately as individual beings, and as a society. So they set out to end them entirely, finding more and more efficient ways to kill the otherwise immortal Mobians.
Eventually, the multi-tailed foxes perfected a glamour spell to hide their tails from the rest of the world, appearing as normal, mortal foxes. They went into hiding, most finding their way to some kind of community in the middle of nowhere made completely of other multi-tailed foxes. The two-tailed kits were no longer allowed to fly freely around their camps. In fact, the glamour was hard enough for the older generations to use that they couldn't hold it for their kits, making them stay inside until they started developing their magic and could learn the glamour themselves. But by then, they were usually three-tailed, no longer a tiny kit, but still in need of protection due to being sheltered so heavily.
The kits adapted to the new magic quickly, glamour becoming second nature to them.
Tails, of course, didn't get the chance to be sheltered or coddled or babied like the rest of the kits. His parents hadn't been able to find one of those safe havens where they could settle and have a safety net of others to trust.
The village leader saw Miles as a threat to their safety as a village. He'd heard the legends and myths of the multi-tailed foxes, passed down for generations as a warning that if they were to ever appear again, to end them before they can begin again.
After the house burned with Tails' parents bodies inside, he barely kept alive by learning how to avoid the adults. The kids were mean, abrasive, abusive. But the adults would kill him if given the chance. All because of some genetic mutation he couldn't control.
It's only years later, on his 20th birthday, when he wakes up with a third tail and powers he definitely didn't have yesterday, that he starts to question what he is.
Now, the clearly natural thing to do is go on an adventure.

Has anyone come up with the idea that swap!bloodymary Ryland Grace was one of the scientist sent down in the SM-8? Like yeah he was a convict, accused and convicted of the filament station incident, but if he's still a molecular biologist in that world, then surely the COI would speed run his Conviction Realization process so he could start actually helping. They send him down in the SM-8 as either the final bit of his conviction realization, or his first mission outside of the conviction realization program.
Anyway, the point is, he actually had a chance to have a "good" life in the universe he knows and in a society he knows how to work, but got traumatized and wormholed instead.
But now he's with this gorgeous, brilliant engineer who treats him with more kindness than he's ever gotten, even if he's a bit blunt and hard to read. But he's fed, and cared for, and he's able to touch someone without them flinching away from him or expecting more than he'd ever want to give (bc AroAce Grace ofc)
Anyway, my point is, the COI losing someone they actually wanted AND all their equipment, and Grace knowing this, and feeling guilt for getting this life when he knows he could help the people he left behind, but also knowing he wouldn't trade this life for all the stars in the sky.

I am not immune to propaganda, specifically Tony Stark/Ryland Grace and coltland
I love they meet in their youth at the conference or decathlon as much as the next person but hear me out
They meet on a movie set of this new space action adventure that Peter had been excited for. Tony wanted to surprise him or just do something nice for the kid so he uses his status to be on set for multiple day
Jody is of course directing and Colt is still doing stunts, but you know what this movie needs. A microbiologist. or at least that's what Colt told Ryland when he roped him into spending time on set
Ryland is being 'consulted' when the two show up and Tony needs-to-be-the-smartest-person-in-the-room Stark zeros in. Science talk is science talk and you don't have his kind of history without having your foot in a little bit of everything
Now science sadly isn't my forte but something about this man sticks with Tony. The way he listen to Peter and answers all of his questions in kind, never once speaking down on his kid. The silly science pun shirts he wears or maybe the way he speaks to Tony.
Sure he might have been a bit starstruck and nervous when he introduced himself, he's used to that, but once he got going ohHhhH boy, let it be said that he a man who appreciates someones brains
Peter makes fast friends with the Ryland and finds himself equally attached to his twin brother, Colt. The stuntman takes him under his wing and shows him all the cool behind the scenes stuff that most get to watch be he actually gets to experience. They talk risk calculations and how to properly roll. A lot of which Peter already knew but could really talk about with those outside the hero community
With Peter in trusted hands I guess Tony and Grace get to spend more time together on the sidelines. Shame. At least they have each other to talk too *winky face
Not 100% sure where I'd take it from there but they would definitely exchange numbers by the end of their last of visiting day on set. Maybe Grace has a transfer in place to teach at midtown. Maybe he hasn't realized yet that this won't be the last time he sees Tony and Peter. Maybe this could become something more then fleeting interest between the two
might be unintelligable, but tony stark (mcu) x ryland grace (project hail mary) except they're both aromantic.
they have a really good, like, year of dating and then suddenly realize separately-but-at-the-same-time that they are aromantic and they fuck up while trying to come out to each other which starts an argument that leads to them breaking up. they don't see each other again until tony is trapped in space with nebula and they have matching "IS THAT MY FUCKING EX?????" reactions because why would they expect to see their ex in space???
it's been bouncing around in my brain for the last couple of days. the comedy potential. the angst.
grace (and rocky, of course) going to earth for like. diplomatic reasons. or something. and the avengers having to deal with the fact that tony somehow dated the random ass guy that was thrown into space. like, before the whole "thrown into space" thing, grace was a normal middle school teacher. it is utterly baffling to everyone that he's also somehow tony's longest lasting "romantic" relationship.

Okay so, i have been reading some (a lot) of BloodyMary fanfic and in most of them we see a somewhat naive and reserved Grace and a more experienced and well lived Simon.
Now these are valid interpretations and i love them.
But i honestly think they are the complete opposite and i will stand by this.
Ryland "the last time a stranger game me a pill was in college" Grace, whose first response to a traumatic situation is to drink 3 bags of vodka, and once called someone a waste of carbon in a important convention, is not naive and reserved in any sense of the word. He was that guy in college that showed up wasted for a presentation and still got a full grade. If you don't see him as Aroace, i could see him as a "friendly ley" kinda situation, he got around.
Simon "grew up in a cult" Ironlung, who drank rubbing alcohol because he did not know the difference, spent most of his 20s locked in prison, would not know what to do with Grace. I will tell you, i would be very shocked if this man was not a blushing virgin for most things in life, he is rude, traumatized and often reacts with anger but this man has no experience with anything.
So the BloodyMary community has been doing playlist polls, which is great fun, but now I'm caught up in IronFox (Tony Stark x Ryland Grace) almost as much as I am BloodyMary, so I'm making a playlist poll for them.
If Grace had gone back to earth, if the taumeba hadn't leaked. Do you think that Stratt would've cried, not ugly, not a lot, but tears still ran down her cheeks when she saw the Hail Mary instead of those little Beetles? Would she have hugged him? Welcomed him back as something and someone precious? Thanked him for saving the world she sacrificed him for?
She sent him to die, and he came back anyway. She knows he's angry, and she'll hear him when he gets as close to cussing her out as he'll let himself. Choice words hurting more than any curse or slur he could throw at her, specially chosen over 3 years alone in space.
Once the taumeba farms were set up, she would let him judge her, as the courts already had. They'd given her life in prison, but she'd gotten out. She needed to be ready for the Beetles' return, and she hadn't wronged the world's governments, not really. So how could they judge her in a way that mattered?
But Grace? She had wronged him personally. If he deigned that she was fit for the courts ruling, she'd go back in that prison cell. But she had killed him, once, it would be fair if he killed her, too.

Guys PLEASE bloodymerry ISN'T A CRACK SHIP at least anymore
Its a CROSSOVER SHIP
Crack ships are usually a type of crossover ships BUT they dont usually make sense, they're named crack ships cus you must be on crack if you like them
Bloodymerry could have started as a crack ship but with time its gotten so popular and it makes sooo much sense if you think about it its definitely left the crack zone
