I cried to this song - A LOT - after my aunt passed. Once she left, how I wished she would give me a ring once she got where she was going. It’s wild how hard personal interpretations can hit you. Every other time, it played like a lover’s plea. But in that moment, this song was sung for me. I know it. R.I.P. Jacki Rest in Power, Aunt Aretha. If y’all catch me leaking on BART, let me be.
