Curly The Lost Boy

Jacob nodded in agreement, his eyes already drifting shut as he wrapped his arms around the other boy. “It sounds like a good plan to me. Goodnight, Curls.” He mumbled, letting out a quiet yawn as he nuzzled his face into Curly’s hair.

“Mhm good night Jake.” Curly replies before yawning and curling up to Jacob so that he could fall asleep.

“How exactly does one fix that?” Jacob asked with an amused smile, cocking his eyebrow and taking a sip of his own tea.

Curly just raises a brow, “I don’t know that is a good question, clearly that is something we need to figure out don’t you think?” 

Jacob nodded in agreement, grinning into his cup. “That’s what I mean. I feel like I’ve not been alive long enough to feel like life’s not as exciting anymore. I think it’s problematic.”

“Maybe we should fix that then.” He replies while taking a sip of his drink. 

“That’s true, but doesn’t it seem like some of the excitement of everyday life is gone now though? I’m not sure why, but it feels like I’m hitting my middle age crisis even though I’m perpetually young forever.” Jacob explained with a laugh, taking another sip of tea.

“Mid-life crisis? Oh gosh we can’t be that old just yet.” Curly lets out a small laugh at the thought. “Oh I am definitely not ready for that at all actually.” 

Jacob smiled gratefully as he took his mug, holding it between both of his hands and up to his lips. “Thanks, love.” He took a sip of his tea before letting out a quiet hum, closing his eyes. “Why do I feel like the old person of the island lately?”

“Maybe it’s because Dylan is all grown up and Ombra has finally left us both alone.” He replies nonchalantly as he takes a drink from his cup. “I’m not complaining though. I don’t like when it messed with us. It’s rather nice it’s not picking on us for a change.”

“Sure, but I guess that’s the upside of time not existing here. We’ve got all the time in the world plus some.” He grinned, not bothering to get any more dressed before climbing into bed and scooting over to give Curly room.

“That is true.” Curly strips himself of his shirt before throwing it to the ground as he hopped into bed and then grabbed both of the mugs and gave Jacob one. 

Jacob shrugged, leading them the rest of the way into the bedroom. “It’s kind of become a part of who you are and I’ve never been the best with adapting to changes, however small. It’ll just take some adjusting.”

“I think everything takes time don’t you think?” He asks while smiling before putting the cups down on the side of the table. 

Jacob frowned as he tugged lightly at the end of Curly’s hair, shaking his head. “I’m not sure how I feel about that. I think I’m going to miss the jungle.”

“Really? I don’t think I will. It takes forever to brush in the morning to be honest.” 

Jacob nodded with a smile at the idea, leading the way up to the bedroom. “Perfect. It’s been a while since we’ve had a good cuddle, yeah? Miss having your annoyingly long hair suffocating me when I try to nuzzle up into you.”

“Sorry about the hair. I was thinking about cutting it soon.” He replies with a smile. “I miss having it short.” 

Jacob let out a dramatic sigh as he heard Curly enter the kitchen, turning around to throw his arms around the other’s neck. “Oh, it felt like an eternity. You do know how I get lonely.” He replied jokingly, pecking Curly’s lips. “The tea’s in the mugs. Want to take them upstairs, get comfy?”

“I think that sounds like a good idea.” He replies while walking over and grabbing their mugs before gesturing for Jacob to lead the way. “I already changed the bed and everything so it’s all nice for cuddles.” 

Jacob grinned cheekily as he did an obviously fake laugh playfully, pretending to wipe at his eyes. “You’re too funny to exist, Curls. I’m dying on the inside.” He winked before pulling on a pair of boxers, kissing the other’s cheek lightly and heading down to the kitchen to make their tea.

“I know I live to thrill.” Curly replies dramatically before taking some time to dry himself off and go back to the bedroom to put some clothes on and clean off the bed. Snapping his fingers, he changed the sheets and put the dirty ones in the wash. He dressed himself and threw the towel in the hamper before heading downstairs to where Jacob was. “Did you miss me? I know I was gone for so long.” He teases. 

Jacob laughed, shaking his head. “Not the parents I was talking about, but that’s alright.” He shook his head to dry his hair a bit before pushing it out of his face, walking into the bedroom. “Want some tea or anything else before bed?”

“I know it’s not I was trying to be funny.” Curly jokes before nodding his head, “Oh raspberry tea would sound nice as well.” 

“I’m about as close to a mermaid as a guy from the mainland can get. I did quite like swimming back then when I got the chance.” Jacob grinned, finishing rinsing off before turning off the water. He reached out of the shower to grab the towels, wrapping Curly’s around him first before wrapping himself in his own. “That just makes you the husband of an ex-lost boy, probable merman and pirate. I’m sure your parents would have been proud.”

“I don’t know you can ask them though...they are here on the island after all.” Curly jokes back as he grabs another towel to help dry his hair. 

Jacob smiled as he nodded, washing his hair before just standing in the water for a moment longer to let the warmth relax his muscles more. “It’s one of my favorite things. Almost as good as a bath or a sit in the hot tub. Maybe I just really like being in the water.”

“Maybe you are really a mermaid we just never knew it.” Curly jokes lightly while waiting for Jacob to finish rinsing off.

Jacob grinned, stepping more under the water to let it rinse him off. “Is that your way of telling me that I don’t normally smell nice? Because I tend to think I’m not the worst smelling person ever.”

Curly just lets out a small laugh, “You always smell nice, but now you will smell extra nice how does that sound? Besides it must feel nice to be able to shower after being out all day don’t you think? I know I enjoy showers after spending time outside.” 

“So we’ll find our balance between old and new, what makes us happy. How does that sound?” Jacob asked Curly, running his fingers lightly through the other boy’s wet hair.

“That sounds perfect.” Curly smiles before giving Jacob a quick peck on the lips. “Now it’s time to rinse you off now that you smell nice.” He winks while moving over so that Jacob could wash off.
