Heard in someone's new book, Marcia Lucas called out Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy for not understanding Star Wars, and yeah. Yes.

But she went on to say, "And they think it’s important to appeal to a woman’s audience, so now their main character is this female,"--woof, that sounds lifted right off an incel message board after TFA came out*--"who’s supposed to have Jedi powers, but we don’t know how she got Jedi powers, or who she is. That.... That wasn't the problem, Marcia. She's a great editor who saved the OT but maybe she doesn't understand SW appeal herself. We don't know or care how most people got Force powers in the SW universe. They're born with it, end of explanation. We're not taken out of the fantasy if we don't get a family tree included.

Her other gripe was killing Han, which I thought Harrison wanted before he'd agree to play Han again, but maybe I'm wrong. Out of everything wrong with the sequels, the "female" and the trio deaths were her gripes. Is this how people who watch boxing feel when they're excited for a fight only to see it end in 2 minutes?
