"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' " The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' " —Matthew 25:37-40

THOUGHTS:
======================
It's unfortunate but true that it's easy to make enemies in this world. I've had my fair share of them, but I've learned not to let them bother me. This is because I have a strong connection with God, and I know He is my ultimate friend. It's something that should be easy for all of us to realize, but some of us struggle because we choose to deny Jesus as our friend and instead focus on this world. But the truth is, when we prioritize the things of this world over our relationship with God, we are making an enemy out of Him. We cannot be friends with this world and God at the same time; we must choose who we want to be friends with. God won't force us to choose Him; it's a decision we must make every day. And that decision can be difficult when we have so many voices telling us who to choose and what to do. It's essential always to keep our eyes on God and choose to serve Him above all else.
The experiences I’ve faced in this world have taught me a valuable lesson: my trust lies in one person, and that is God. I have learned that the people in this world cannot always be trusted, but I know that no matter what, God will always be there for me. He may not always answer my prayers in the way I want, but I have faith that He has a plan for me. Throughout the Bible, there are countless stories of people who depended on God for their needs, and He was always there for them. Whether it was Moses, David, or countless others, they never doubted in their minds who God was and what He could do for them. The enemy will try to convince you that you cannot trust in God, and he may even plant seeds of doubt in your head. But, I have learned to stand firm and rebuke the enemy when he comes my way. With God by my side, I know that I can overcome any challenge that comes my way.
Psalms 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.
This confirms what the Holy Spirit just said: it is better to take refuge in the Lord than trust in people. Each day we choose this world, we are making an enemy of God. God doesn’t want us to take the world as our friend because we would then forget about Him, and we would become more like this world. It’s easy to do when we focus on the wrong things. It’s so much better to take refuge in God because He’ll always be there. God is dependable; this world isn’t.
It is essential to recognize that God is in control and His plans are perfect. As humans, we are limited in our understanding, and our plans and wisdom are fallible. Therefore, it is crucial to develop a habit of turning to God in prayer as our first response in times of trouble, rather than solely relying on human solutions. While relationships are significant, it is important to discern where our ultimate trust lies. Our faith should be anchored in God, not in people. In moments of fear or uncertainty, it can be easy to lose sight of God's faithfulness. However, in those moments, we must choose faith over fear and remind ourselves of God's unwavering love and protection. Additionally, we should encourage others in our community to place their trust in God by sharing testimonies of His faithfulness in our lives.
* Psalm 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, in mortal man, who cannot save.
* Isaiah 2:22 Put no more trust in man, who has only the breath in his nostrils. Of what account is he?
* Psalm 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, in mortal man, who cannot save
We can’t put our trust in man; that’s what those verses are saying. It might seem easy to trust in man because they're right here, but we can’t trust in them because the word says so. We must remember that they cannot do what the Lord does. What we receive from God is fundamentally different from what we can obtain from people. The enemy wants us to think we can trust him, but we can’t. The enemy wants us to think we can get the same thing from him that we can’t. People are limited, but God is limitless.
It challenges us to place our trust in God, the eternal and all-powerful being, who alone can offer true security and salvation. While human leaders can undoubtedly make a positive impact, they are not infallible or everlasting. This calls for us to have a humble and discerning approach towards human leadership, while placing our unwavering trust in the unchanging and faithful nature of God. Ultimately, we are encouraged to seek God's guidance, rely on His provision, and find peace in His promises, rather than being swayed by the limitations and fallibility of human leaders.
James 4:4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.
This verse today states that we shouldn’t be friends with this world, for when we do, we become enemies with this world. He says it twice which gives a big warning Nothing is in this world that we need, it’s nothing in this world that can satisfy us like the lord can, the only thing I have found in this world is let down pain and stress, and to trade it all in for pleasure now will be a disservice for ourselves.
The spirit of contempt and the spirit of laziness are sweeping this world because people, whether they do the bare minimum or are comfortable with the life they are living, are not living for Christ. Still, I’m here to tell you that the more we allow the enemy to become a friend, the more we are comfortable with this world. What it has to offer, we have to start hating the things God hates and loving what he loves. We must start showing that we hate the things of this world.
Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Having friendship with the world goes beyond just being in association with it. It involves adopting its values and priorities, which are often in direct opposition to God's. This can lead one down a path that is contrary to God's will and places them in opposition to Him. As believers, it is essential to recognize this and turn away from the world and its temptations. Repentance and realignment with God's will are necessary to live in accordance with His teachings truly. Our lives should reflect God's holiness, and this can only be achieved by consciously choosing Him over the world. Remembering that the world's appeal is temporary can help us focus on what truly matters - eternal values and God's kingdom. As we strive to live distinctively, we can be a light in a dark world and bring glory to God.
***Today we learned that the world can’t be our friend and that the world and data have limits, but God is limitless, and no matter what we do, we can try to be friends with both, we can’t, we will love the one and hate the other. It might not go the way we think. We will love God more than we could love the world more because the world can give us things our flesh desires, and it can’t feed our spirit man. No matter what we do, we can’t please God with this type of mindset.
Romans 8:7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so
We as believers must recognize the concept of the mind of the flesh and its implications in our spiritual lives. This phrase refers to our natural, sinful inclinations that are in direct opposition to God's will. Our flesh, or inherited human nature, is inherently hostile towards God and His ways. Therefore, it is not enough to simply resist our fleshly desires; we must transform the mind through the power of the Holy Spirit. This requires a renewed perspective and mindset that is aligned with God's Spirit rather than the flesh. It is a continual process of submitting to God's law and allowing Him to shape our hearts and minds for His glory. Let's remember that God is all we need, and when we live in the flesh, we aren’t living in the spirit.

The Sam standee is in the "I Want it That Way" lineup from Brooklyn Nine-Nine!
One random gag I recall overhearing someone telling on a train was a dude saying how he was just about done with work one friday (wfh I think) when his phone started ringing, and the caller's name was saved as "12-pack of sandels" for some reason. He answered and on the line was a guy who was evidently a close friend, going "lmao gotcha, a pack of beer was calling and you answered! Come over and have a few."
He had no idea when the friend had changed his own name on his phone to "12-pack of sandels".
A big fan of his
