THOUGHTS:
======================
God always hears our prayers. Sometimes we may feel like He does not because we do not receive an immediate answer or because we are going through a difficult season. However, God is always listening to His children. David expressed many times in the Psalms how desperately he needed to hear from God. He understood that life without Godās presence and guidance would leave him feeling hopeless. Many of us can relate to that feeling when we are waiting on an answer, but we can take comfort in knowing that God hears every sincere prayer that comes from our hearts.
God hears not only the words we speak but also knows the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. He sees everything we do and understands our deepest needs even before we ask. Because He loves us, He invites us to bring everything to Him in prayer. Even when it feels like our prayers are falling on deaf ears, they are not. God hears every cry, every concern, and every request. Yet His answer may not always be what we expect because He responds according to His wisdom, His will, and what is ultimately best for us.
It is important to remember that prayer is not only about speaking to God; it is also about listening to Him. A healthy relationship with God involves both communication and obedience. As we pray, we should take time to listen for His guidance through His Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit. God wants us to depend on Him for everything, and He desires for us to grow closer to Him through prayer. When we seek Him with sincere hearts, we can trust that He hears us, loves us, and will answer according to His perfect timing and purpose.
Psalm 28:1 I pray to you, O Lord, my rock.Ā Ā Do not turn a deaf ear to me.For if you are silent,āØI might as well give up and die.
A rock represents strength, stability, and security. When everything around us feels uncertain, God remains unchanging and faithful. Like David, we should turn to God first in times of trouble, knowing that He is our firm foundation and the One who can sustain us through every trial.
David also pleads with God not to be silent. He understood the importance of hearing from the Lord and desired Godās guidance in his life. There are times when believers may feel as though God is silent, especially during seasons of waiting or difficulty. However, even when we do not immediately hear an answer, God is still at work. His silence does not mean His absence. He is always present, listening to our prayers and working according to His perfect plan.
David knew that without the Lordās help, he would be helpless and vulnerable. We often try to solve our problems through our own strength, but true wisdom comes from seeking God. When we depend on Him and listen to His voice through His Word, He guides us in the path we should take and protects us from making decisions that lead us away from Him.
Psalm 28:1 also teaches us the importance of persistence in prayer. David did not give up when he was struggling; instead, he continued to cry out to God. We should have the same attitude in our own lives. No matter what we are facing, we can confidently bring our concerns before the Lord. He is our rock, our refuge, and our source of strength. When we trust Him and continue seeking Him, we can rest in the assurance that He hears us and will answer according to His perfect will and timing.
Psalm 143:7 Answer me quickly, O Lord! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who go down to the pit.
David cries out to God with a sense of urgency. He is overwhelmed and weary, and he knows that only God can help him. There are times in our lives when we feel exhausted, discouraged, or uncertain about what to do next. Like David, we can bring those feelings honestly before the Lord. God is not afraid of our struggles, and He invites us to call upon Him in our times of need.
This is a reminder that we were never meant to carry lifeās burdens alone. When we rely only on ourselves, we eventually become tired and discouraged. However, when we turn to God, we find renewed strength and hope. Godās presence refreshes our hearts and reminds us that He is still in control, even when our circumstances seem overwhelming.
David did not simply want his problems solved; he wanted to hear from God and experience His nearness. As believers, our greatest source of comfort is knowing that God is with us. When we seek Him through prayer, His Word, and worship, He strengthens our faith and guides our steps. No matter how difficult the road may become, we can trust that God hears our cries and will sustain us through every season of life.
Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
David describes the Lord as his rock, fortress, and deliverer. A rock is firm and unchanging, and a fortress is a place of safety and protection. David had faced many battles and difficulties in his life, yet he knew that God was the One who kept him secure. In the same way, we can trust God to be our foundation when life feels uncertain and unstable.
Many times we try to rely on our own abilities, but our strength is limited. There will be situations that are too great for us to handle on our own. God invites us to place our trust in Him and depend on His strength instead of our own. When we surrender our fears, worries, and struggles to Him, He provides the help and wisdom we need to keep moving forward.
The verse goes on to describe God as a shield, the horn of salvation, and a high tower. These images show Godās power to protect, rescue, and preserve His people. No matter what challenges we face, God remains our refuge. When trials come, we do not have to face them alone because the Lord stands with us. As we continue to trust Him, we can rest in the assurance that He is our protector, our strength, and our salvation, both now and forever.
*** Today we talked about God is our Rock, and what it means , He is our firm foundation in a world that is constantly changing. People, circumstances, and feelings may come and go, but God remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. When lifeās storms arise and everything around us seems uncertain, we can stand confidently knowing that God is stable and unshakable. He is the foundation upon which we can build our lives, and those who trust in Him will not be disappointed.
As our Rock, God is also our place of refuge and protection. In biblical times, rocks and cliffs often provided shelter from enemies and danger. In the same way, God invites us to run to Him when we are afraid, discouraged, or overwhelmed. We do not have to face lifeās challenges alone because He is always present to strengthen and sustain us. No matter how difficult the situation may be, God is a safe place where we can find peace and security.
Knowing that God is our Rock should encourage us to trust Him completely. When we rely on our own understanding, we can easily become discouraged or led astray. However, when we place our faith in God, we are anchored in His truth and guided by His wisdom. He will never fail us, abandon us, or lead us in the wrong direction. As we remain rooted in Him through prayer, His Word, and obedience, we will discover the strength and stability that come from building our lives upon the Rock that never moves. ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee
