Huh, I hadn’t actually thought of myself as argumentative before? I guess that side of my personality comes out more online; I tend to be more withdrawn irl, but online, I, ah. Well. I believe I’ve mentioned comprehensively roasting my sociology class before? (Forum discussions get WILD, and there’s a certain kind of pleasure that comes from dismantling a terf’s arguments piece by piece and with better grammar.) Still, for a long time I’ve struggled with my own sense of identity versus my need to be accepted, so it’s very comforting to hear that people now see me as someone who’s accepting but can stand up for herself <3

What I say: tsundere characters are boring

What I mean: tsundere characters are actually a very rad concept, but in practice tend to be one dimensional angry female caricatures whose emotions are chalked up to having a crush, and this is uncomfortably similar to our culture of male entitlement. The assumption of romantic intent behind actions intended to drive someone away allows men to demean and belittle the emotions of women while simultaneously playing the victim. There’s a power imbalance that’s romanticized when it shouldn’t be, and it’s frustrating to see the wasted potential of tsundere archetypes being used as a lazy and sexist excuse for characterization when it could be so much more
