In Japan it’s the equivalent to calling someone an otaku. Western TERFs misappropriated Japanese culture and spearheaded the idea that fujoshi means creepy objectifying pervert as a way of shitting on trans men. “They just want to be those gay yaoi boys, they’re not real men.” Perpetuating the idea that all Japanese queer literature (and it is queer literature, BL is made primarily by queer people and read primarily by queer people, and always has been – see: how yuri came to be in the first place) is gross, problematic, harmful trash and everyone who reads it is fetishising gay men is,,,, hint,,, fucking racist.
