"I'm ending the blog. I'm ending the blog August 31st, 2026"
This was a thought that came into my head last night, and I can't stop thinking about it. I've had this main blog technically since high school, but have only been using it properly since college. I started college 6 years ago now, and a lot about me and the world has changed.
This particular blog no longer feels like a canvas of who I am. Instead, it feels very misshapen and a little too scattered for my taste. Over these 6 years, I've moved through a sea of interests, and I incredibly dislike the lack of cohesion. I still get likes on posts that I made years ago, and those posts remind me of a time when I was a very different person. That's not to say I'm not proud of who I was then (although I do cringe a bit at some of my personal remarks that probably should have ended up in my diary instead of the frickin' internet). Rather, I've been increasingly feeling like I need to start completely from scratch.
Back at the beginning of the year, I wrote that this website was my last chance at social media. Otherwise, I was going to leave the internet entirely. I can confidently say that I want to stay here. I like Tumblr! But I don't think I'm going to stay much longer on this blog. I'm still thinking it over, so don't hold me to anything yet, but I think I'm going to move to a new blog. One where I'll have that blank canvas I want and the opportunity to rethink how I want to personally engage on here. If I eventually do make that new blog, I'll put a link to it somewhere on this post. Or I won't. It's up in the air for now!
