Learning how to accomplish this was quite challenging for me. I first started with the boolProp snapObjectsToGrid cheat to attach it to the Alt key as in TS3 and TS4. But it had another challenge: getting rid of the free camera movement thingy (when you hold Alt). Seriously, who is actually using that in TS2? I'm still looking to learn how to disable that stupid thing.

As for the moveObjects cheat, I have also managed to retrieve the current game state (e.g., live mode, build mode, etc.) to make this hotkey work only for the game states where you can pick and place objects.

One of the final steps is to make it work only when the game is in the foreground. Currently, it works even when the game is in the background. This is an easy step. For the other step, I will also need to make it not work when there is a dialog popup (when simulation is paused) or when the focus is on an input field (where you have to type things, like baby name, family name, etc.).

P.S. I tried LazyDuchess' hotkey mod, but there is no SimAntics or BHAV function to allow me to do this, AFAIK.

The original cheat hotkey feature is still available for the moveObjects and constrainFloorElevation cheats by default.

Cheat aliases allow you to set your own custom cheat name for an existing cheat (with or without parameters). By default, the testingCheatsEnabled cheat has the alias testingCheats, shorter and better!

Startup cheats, which is one of the useful and favorite features of TS2, are executed when the original cheat is available (i.e., in the main menu or after a world loading screen).
