Chill out!

“Well if you can’t I have a few bits I can spare ya.” Lena offered as they stepped off of the military jet.

It was the latest in up-to-date technology and the former pilot had been buzzing to actually be flying in one of those things. Even better was she got to nosy with the pilots and find out more!

“But just don’t overheat yourself, we need you!”

“Tsk yeh such a conch. Well it ain’t gonna b’ worth a shit fer a ‘andle 'n lock b’ Oi guess yeh could rig it so’s it don’t look so crook.” He tilted his head this way and that at the door, trying to figure out why she’d want to fix it in the first place. Really fixing it would mean having to take the door apart and rebuild the whole lock. He’d done a number on that thing to get her out.

“Ain’t done nuthin’ wrong no how. Oi rescued ye from th’ evil closet 'f doom 'n didn’t even blow up th’ 'ole door ta git it. Ain’t nuthin’ ta 'ave a go at us fer.” He meandered over and picked up the broken handle, turning it around to inspect the part where it used to be attached to the locking mechanism. Yeah that wasn’t about to get fixed any time soon.

“We rig it 'n ’s gonna stand out loik a dog’s balls.” He said, tapping the end with a metal finger.

Conch? 

For a second Mei looked visibly confused but covered it up with a nervous laugh as she watched him investigate the door knob turning it about in his hand as the gears turned in their collective heads in how to fix the issue. 

“I-It doesn’t have to lock it just has to close enough so that no one will notice what has happened to it. I’m sure not many people use this corrid-” as she was finishing her sentence there was a large explosion (that for once didn’t involve the Australian) in the wall behind her sending debris and smoke into the air. Mei was thrown forward into Junkrat as more rock and dry wall showered down on them. 

“āi yōu āi yōu āi yōu āi yōu” She muttered under her breathe as she felt something heavy step on the mountain of rock and wall that had piled up on top of her and possibly Junkrat too. She couldn’t tell where her body ended and where he or the rock pile started. Everything ached and throbbed in pain. She wasn’t ready for this kind of attack.

Mei had thought maybe Talon or any other kind of terrorist that would cause such a kerfuffle would have waited a few months before launching attacks on their headquarters. “J-J... Junkrat?” she groaned squinting her eyes as the dust slowly settled and a familiar gruff voice groaned through the air as did a body of an omnic guard that had been captured by Talon operant. 

“Mei! Don’t you ‘ave a summer wardrobe too? You must be boiling in all those coats!” Lena asked now that they’d landed in Gibraltar. This certainly wasn’t the climate for those layers, despite Mei’s fantastic ice weapon.

Mei was visibly seating as they left the jet. She had mixed up her dates and had thought Gibraltar would have been in winter right now and had dressed accordingly. But when she had boarded the Jet and had realised her folly it was too late to change. 

“Wha’? No, of course– of course not, Mei. C’mon, I know you’re smart, but you’re overthinking it way too much. When you’re a soldier, y’eat what’s around. Ain’t matter what the tin says.” Why did they recruit such a fragile human being, anyway.

Her shaking slowed as he explained his reasoning and she started to calm down, but the thought of him getting sick stuck in the back of her mind. “U-Uhh... Oh, Heh... I guess sometimes the best answer is the simplest” She said with a wave of her hand.
