An addict will never change. They just move from one addiction to another. Only way they can stop is if you tie them up but once you untie them they will return to their ways.

addiction is genuinely crazy. destroy peoples whole lives. and it’s not about being strong enough to quit, you can quit and be unhappy for the rest of your entire life because you know that nothing will make you feel as happy as that one thing you were addicted to. I speak from someone who suffers with my own compulsions and as someone who’s parent is in a big black hole and nobody can pull them out
