Hey everyone. I’m here to archive a story that I’m sure many of you won’t believe, but I don’t care, someone has to know about this.
Alright, so, the day was Tuesday, March 3rd of around 2016-ish.
I was on a medical team, we got a call of something that sounded stupid, but we had to check it out, just in case anyone was actually hurt. God, I wish I was right about it being a prank call or something.
Me and my partner at the time were called to a weird smell from underneath some sort of abandoned food joint, I can’t recall the name. What I can recall was the stench. It smelled foul, words alone couldn’t describe it, but I’ll try regardless.
It smelled of rotting flesh and dead animals.
Because that’s what we found. A cavern full of dead animals, organs all shriveled and purple. The weird thing was the positions they died in.
They were in these circles that looked like they were huddling in fear of something. I don’t know what, but I felt a chill down my spine.
In this cavern, we saw weird abstract drawings of a vulture or some other bird-thing, made of these segmented parts that kinda looked like a failed attempt at writing.
Then we smelt the smoke.
It was coming from deeper in the pit.
And what we saw when we went in was disturbing at best, deranged at worst. We saw a crude mockery of some sort of temple. Pillars made of wood, infused with dead rotting creatures that we later analyzed as squirrels and other rodents. Mostly raccoons.
And at the center. We, well, I should say, I saw, was a person, on some sort of chair or makeshift
throne, in that same purple shriveled state as the other animals.
My partner, who almost puked through his suit at this point, went back to the surface to call for backup and forensic analysts.
And this is the insane part, the part where people have called me batshit crazy for.
I went closer to try and see if there were any identifying features, and he…
He. Got. Up.
I tried to move him, and he creaked up with a shaky, battered, breath off of the bastardized throne made of some black wood-like material.
The last thing I heard him say before he fell back over and chunks of flesh rotted off was
“I was so close. So almost free.”
I didn’t tell my partner. Or anyone, really, until recently, which is where the insanity accusations set in.
You all can call me insane or lying, I don’t care, I wish I was lying about this.
I surveyed the rest of the perimeter, I saw candles and more crude drawings of birds.
I went back up to my partner and said I tried to move the body, but dropped it. Shitty lie, but believable enough.
After we called back up, we drove back to our main station to report what we saw.
“So almost free.”
What was he possibly trying to be free of?
