I gave up on meeting Taylor a long, long time ago. But not out of pessimism or laziness. I gave up because I came to the realization that unless I was spending an unhealthy amount of time on tumblr and constantly trying to get Taylor’s or TN’s attention, my chances were extremely slim to none. Unless I was spending all my money on merch, taking pictures of myself wearing it, posting it and reblogging myself 500 times, my chances were extremely slim to none. Unless I was making dramatic reaction videos (particularly in a group) or falling off a table while dancing to one of Taylor’s songs, my chances were extremely slim to none. Unless I practically gave my entire being to this app and devoted every ounce of my spare time to get her to notice me, my chances were extremely slim to none. And here’s the thing — even if swifties want to do things like that for Taylor’s attention, not everyone has the time. People are busy with school and work and their families. And here’s the other thing, not everyone is comfortable doing these things either. That’s what really fucking sucks. Because it’s pretty much the only shot you’ve got. If Taylor doesn’t follow you or she hasn’t noticed you a handful of times, you more than likely will never get chosen. Because the methods of choosing really just aren’t fair. It’s just assumed that unless your face is plastered all over everyone’s tumblr feed, then you’re not a hardcore swiftie. You’re not a diehard fan unless people can recognize you from those photos you took in your merch or that video you made reacting to Taylor’s new music video. Which obviously isn’t true, and it’s kind of heartbreaking. They’ll just keep picking the same people over and over again to meet her. To even be considered to go to some sort of exclusive event. That’s why I gave up. Because I’m not one of the special or popular ones. I’m a swiftie that nobody knows.
