I will keep my post kh series verse - but update it to list it as being canon-divergent / AU (i’m still hmm about how no one seemed to react to Braig not being around in the kh3 ending cinematic in radiant garden.)

I think I will roll with the idea of Luxu and Xigbar / Braig being too entity’s in one body. Luxu’s heart can to residue within Braig’s body a little after his parent’s death however Luxu didn’t realise the extent of the damage  / only took note of how easy it would be merge with the kids heart. Back then Braig mistook Luxu for his father which is why he was willing to accept it in the first place.

Luxu stabilised Braig’s heart which initially allowed Braig to “ snap back to normalcy” but there was an issue in which if Luxu tried to replace  Braig’s heart out and what not - Braig’s body would of died because his heart was fading away in the first place and it is possible Braig’s sadness was too great for Luxu. 

I’m sure I could better describe this but  in a way Luxu’s heart merged with Braig’s but because of the circumstances surrounding it and a clash of wills in a way (think something sort of like very similar to Terra and Xehanort.) Luxu sort of ended up “stuck” and fell silent.

So Luxu remained unknowingly within Braig. Think similar to the events in kh3 in which someone needed a “spark” / a “connection” in order to return / find their way (e.g. Ventus with Aqua / Roxas with Xion and Lea / Axel.) This “ spark “ was when Braig had first heard about the keyblade war from Kairi’s grandmother (whom of which he was a family friend and never minded lending a helping hand whenever Kairi’s grandmother had her / babysitted and such.)

I feel like what this caused, was for Luxu’s will / heart to stir and trigger something  - because of the mentioned circumstance as to how Luxu residues in Braig - and a difficulty in merging with Braig’s heart / replacing it altogether he and Braig are still two different entity's in a single body.

You could say because of Braig’s stubbornness and “ locking his own heart “ it’s in turn keeping Luxu at bay and so sort of stuck. However because of the fractured nature of Braig’s heart (and because Luxu assisted in stabilising his heart) Luxu can influence Braig. Whether that be his will / memories and such bleeding into Braig’s. 

Like I said - I may portray it similar to Yu/gi & ya/mi from y/u-g/i-o/h as thats the best example that comes to mind “ After Yu/gi solved the Millennium Puzzle, Yami resided in Yu/gi's body. After Yu/gi became fully aware of Ya/mi's existence, Yu/gi could voluntarily give control of his body to the Pharaoh; occasionally before one would give control to the other, they would, as souls in the mind of the one controlling Yu/gi's body, converse with each other, usually about their options of what to do when in difficult situations.  “

Either way, thrust allowing Braig to know things he otherwise wouldn’t / suddenly say something (sort of like how Sora sometimes suddenly talks like Ventus or Roxas.) Even if at first he didn’t properly understand it / perhaps shrugged it off.  Luxu properly only had short  windows of times as to when he could “ come into control “ explaining why they were able to write those secret reports / commit to doing certain things but usually stopping before it put too much strain on Braig’s heart.

Luxu sort of got further shut out once Xehanort secretly planted the shard and because of his influence / the overwhelming nature of his darkness Braig’s heart took to it (the circumstance being different from when Luxu arrived back when Braig was but a boy.)

But by time Kh3 rolls around Braig / Xigbar has become properly aware of Luxu’s presence and so willing act’s in his stead  / voluntarily seeing things through.  He and Luxu are able to converse by means of their will (think of that one scene between Terra and Xehanort talking between one another within Terra’s body.) This may be in thanks to his defeat as a nobody / becoming a somebody again  (maybe??)

Luxu’s heart / presence is the reason braig was worthy - capable of wielding a keyblade of his own...however Luxu is not able to wield his own keyblade / Braig’s for that matter (partly thanks to the fact Xehanort has his keyblade.) Either way I feel like describing it as being Luxu sort of ended up taking up a guardian roll of sorts over Braig  and going along with things till (hopefully) came the day things would go back on track. 

Aka it’s STILL Braig / Xigbar at the end of KH3 but like I’ve briefly mentioned Xigbar acts in Luxu’s stead / isn’t bothered by whether someone calls him Xigbar / Braig or Luxu. Xigbar maybe does have some of Luxu’s characteristic's and memory’s  but bits and pieces really (besides being filled in on stuff by Luxu properly. Which is why kh3 timewise Braig is aware of the box / is aware of Luxu’s mission coming to an end.)
