i just wanna say that like it’s   FINE   for white muns to play characters from ham, as long as they’re not being gross or problematic! that wasn’t my intention at all. 

that was part of the reason i left, but mostly it was bc there was a ridiculous amount of   BULLYING   going on in the fandom that got unhealthy so i dipped out. it wasn’t worth the stress.

this is by no means a call out post or me “vagueing” anyone. i’ve been linked to a criticism of my rules ––– and i’m not gonna link the person or @ them because i knew i was going to get criticized for this in the first place, just by putting that rule in bold on my guidelines. and, maybe this is partially not my fault for being more clear about WHY i have that rule there. ( it tried to keep it short, as my rules are quite wordy but quite important to me. ) [ IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: i don’t blame you, i’m not even upset at you for this really, i just feel the need to defend myself. ]

YES. I WILL HESITATE TO FOLLOW WHITE MUNS BACK RIGHT AWAY.

this does not mean that i DON’T follow them whatsoever. and if you MUST know what hesitate” means in this case, it usually means that i look back through their blog and/or have their blog on a tab and just browse a little for a day or two before following back. often, i DO follow back right away if i know them/trust them  ––– race isn’t exactly the first thing that comes up about a mun or a blog. 

in case any of you weren’t aware (zero shade behind that phrase), a lot of white fans of hamilton have made a lot of fans of color uncomfortable. a lot of fans of color i know often mention that the fandom is so toxic for them in terms of problematic ways in which the fandom deals with race, that they don’t feel welcome in the fandom/and don’t feel like they have a voice in it.

as someone who has loved theatre for years and intends to work in theatre, i see racial discrimination happen all the time in the industry. when hamilton came about (well really when in the heights came about–––but it never blew up this much), i suddenly felt like i had ownership to something that i loved. but to constantly see people fetishize lin, anthony, daveed and others in the cast, or turn an irl term of affection between two men that is tied to my culture labeled as a daddy kink, or to see slavery kink/racial slavery as a fetish come up in tags and fic in a fandom where i felt entitled to inhabit a space and actually take up space for the first time in my life was heartbreaking for me. it SUCKS having to grow up in an environment where the music that is culturally important to you and that you love is hated on by the white community aruond you and suddenly celebrated within their bounds and still see people continuously hate on the communities it stems from every single day. i have seen people outraged over black lives matter (in a negative sense) and still rap along to hamilton and stan the black actors in the cast. i had to comfort and see a lot of my other friends of color, particularly black friends as well, hurt over this. 

no, not all white fans are bad. i obviously interact with a lot of white muns because if i didn’t, i wouldn’t actually be able to rp much at all on this site. but there’s nothing wrong with me needing a safe space and making sure i don’t have to suffer through what i suffer through in real life on a site where this is my hobby. after all, some people with anxiety won’t rp with duplicates, or for a variety of other mental health related reasons. how should my mental health in relation to racial trauma and discrimination be any less valid? i never said all white muns were evil, and if you took it that way and were offended ––– i apologize. but i don’t want to have to sit and lecture people about why things are problematic or run in to a weird point in an ooc friendship where i realize that the mun has done racist or racially problematic things –– and have them respond negatively when i call them out. 

i’ve had many white muns personally message me about this rule as a disclaimer that they are white, and asking me to call them out on anything if i recognize an issue before we become mutuals. this is an example of amazing allyship and i’m forever grateful. i can’t tell you how much that means to me.

but if you don’t agree with this rule, or are upset by it ––– there’s a reason it’s there. i need white muns who follow me to understand what allyship is, and to stand by this rule ––– because if they don’t, there’s a good chance (not 100% but a good chance) that they aren’t someone i can trust to not be toxic, or not drown out voices of color in the fandom.

if you’re offended by this, and haven’t read my rules, you can unfollow and i won’t take it personally (white or not). but i hope i’ve made my point for you, and you understand me better now.

if there’s fallback from this, i won’t be around because i have work early tomorrow and am going to bed. i’ll deal with it in the morning. if it rambles and doesn’t make sense.... well i’m tired and i don’t make sense a lot of the time anyway.

          truth be told ,   being in the house is more   STRESSFUL   for her than she allows herself to let on.     perhaps   NEAR - DEATH   experiences had their effects on normal girls her age   –––   but angelica didn’t have   TIME   to let her emotions get in   the way   of her life goals right now.     she was   ENGAGED ,   in the middle of planning a   wedding   to the most eligible bachelor she knew ,   and she damn well wasn’t going to let a mental breakdown or an aiding and abetting charge get in the way of her   WELL-DESERVED   happy ending.  

          maybe she should be nicer to them all   –––   especially   nina ,   since the girl was the   SOLE REASON    she was breathing at this point in time.     but camaraderie ,   real ,   honest to god   FRIENDSHIP   was a weakness here.     angelica’s   not   an unfeeling or unfriendly person normally ,   but she’s learned from her mistakes.     friendships were often distractions   –––   and once angelica   CARED ,   her selflessness would get in the way of her ambitions.
