Yume Nikki / ゆめにっき is an RPG indie game made in the RPG Maker 2003 engine by a mysterious person called Kikiyama / ききやま. In the game, we explore dreams of a hikikomori girl called Madotsuki / まどつき.

The game was released on June 26 2004. First, it was available to download on Kikiyama's website. Yume Nikki was updated for 3 years until 2007. The game got popular in Japan and outside of Japan when a fanmade English translation got released. Later, Yume Nikki was published on Steam by PLAYISM for free, so more people could explore the game. Yume Nikki was a big inspiration for Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale and Omocat, the creator of OMORI.

Yume Nikki despite it's old age, is still popular between RPG Maker and indie games lovers. According to wikipedia, there are over 2000 Yume Nikki fangames and the number can still increase.
