Letting the days go by

Oh yeah, and the ‘tism means I am in constant fight or flight and I feel like I’m being slowly boiled alive any time I have to move or put real clothes. Don’t get me started on socks. SOCKS!!

I’ve had this theory for a little while, based on how different Carmy is in terms of age, temperament and looks to Mikey and Nat. As the only pasty ginger in my family (with a brother who was tanned with black hair) I’m well aware how genes work, but I just think it’s interesting to wonder — Mikey and Nat obv don’t really look alike either, but they have a similar enough thing going on that you could explain it by saying Nat takes after Donna and Mikey takes after Papa Berzatto (100% Donna and Natalie are naturally dark haired too though). Carmy being so clearly a very “late accident” baby makes me wonder too.

If you lined them all up and asked me blind, I’d be quicker to say that Carmy was Richie’s brother than Mikey or Nat. I don’t mean that as “omg maybe Carmy is secretly a Jerimovich” (Richie is very clearly a lone wolf in an absent family who have little to no relationship with the Berzattos), I just mean that Carmy really sticks out to me amongst the rest of them.

They’ve made all sorts of comments about the uncles sniffing around Donna (ew) and even having gone there before (double ew). Visually Carmy doesn’t not look like Uncle Bob Odenkirk. I also don’t think he really takes after Donna in terms of temperament, I think Richie just said that to hurt him. To me, he’s more like Jimmy if he’s like anyone. Interesting also that Jimmy and Lee take on a far more paternalistic role with Carmy than they do with any of the other “kids”.

Of course this could all just be because they feel responsible for the Berzattos after Papa Berzatto skipped out, and Carmy in particular cos he would’ve been so young. Jimmy might have just meant that comment as a “I’m the closest thing the kid has to a father”, but I think it’s fun to pick up on these possible crumbs because if that’s what he meant, he could’ve just said exactly that.

I have adored Richie ever since his season 1 scumbag days but Tina!!! Tina has my entire heart and her character development has been the true joy of the show for me. Liza Colón-Zayas is such a phenomenal actress, the way she conveys emotion is beautiful, the pathos 🤌 she’s also fucking hilarious, when she said “whatever happens, I’m your Jeff” to Sydney I was laughing and crying all at once.

I saw her and her husband just randomly on the street in London last year and the smol/tol vibes are so cute, she’s so tiny!

Like, it’s a brilliant and instant classic horror film, inde navarrette is immediately a scream queen hall of famer and I haven’t been this excited about a new film in a long time, and in several ways I’m SO glad I saw it but in millions of other ways… oh my fucking god I feel so sick and I’m so scared and no film has ever made my skin crawl like this before like I actually feel gross for just having watched that. My night is ruined, I’m so stressed.

But like

In a good way.

I think a lot about how everything we’re told about her is through other characters, and how much that can realistically say about her. Like, is Dana correctly assessing how put upon and weighed down she is at home… or is Dana interpreting all of this based on her own experiences

I think about “Abby wants a Birkin” and whether that’s legit the kind of person she is, or just Frank taking an off-handed comment and running with it to put more pressure on himself. (In my mind, she was watching Love Story one night and saw the way CBK hauls around her Birkin like a dirty Trader Joes tote, and said “god she’s so chic, I wish I could do that” and Langdon’s brain went !!!!!!! Abby wants a Birkin!!!!!!)

I wonder why the fuck she would have 2 children under 5, who were clearly born during COVID, with an adhd-riddled ER resident

I’ve even come up with an entire s3 arc for her in my head (I can share this properly in a separate post maybz).

Mostly I hope and I pray that when they do invariably introduce her, she is treated as a fully formed, nuanced person and not a long-suffering mother or an uptight fishwife
