Um no she wouldn't actually. She has only worked alongside Leon 1 (ONE) time in RE2/2R when he wasn't even an agent and even in the questionable movies there wasn't any amount of time for her to understand anything about that lifestyle. Especially since she left any semblance of it to go work for Terrasave instead. She also while visiting Chris is never suggested to have lived or taken in his lifestyle, which is different than Leon and Ada's. He's more military grunt while Leon is the shadow op agent. So she'd have history living at most with the lifestyle of a SOLDIER not an agent.
No, they actually haven't except in questionable canon movies where their dynamic isn't anything massively romantic. Also no, Leon sees the "greater good" in not handing over the chip/evidence. I also never stated that Claire was wrong or even that Leon was, I pointed out the difference that goes to the core of their clash. Agent Kennedy is NOT the same as Rookie Kennedy, where the latter far more aligns with Ada in the gray. By the time of DI the two are back to good terms, but in no way is that fundamental clashing point gone or are they at all romantically coded.
Actually in the RE-universe after RE2/2R, I can actually say that its up there given that BOTH Leon and Ada know the other's job.
"Trusted companion" EASILY fits more as a FRIEND than romantic partner; while that charm is not only tied to a game that furthers the romantic UST between Aeon; but is also found in the spot where they first met). Meanwhile you have Leon going around quoting Ada including lines that he technically couldn't have heard due to in Separate Ways Ada saying it from VERY far away going towards it being a hint from the writers + as he's fucking DYING quoting her 6 line from one of their most romantic moments that showed their bond that NO ONE can remotely get near. Leon pleading with an unconscious Ada to be okay after she got attacked by her mutated stalker who (borrowing from someone else who referred to it as this) SA'd in essence her via making a clone of her that'd be obedient to him, even having Leon taking a spine barrage to his back in defense of her. Showing how far Leon will go for her as well as serving up a contrast between Leon and his loving Ada without restraints or trying to clip her wings to Simmons's wanting to own and control her as his forced lover. THAT is where Leon's mind pulls from and after seeing someone that did a gif set of that whole scene with Grace, its literally a full-on reference with her filling in for Leon's spot and Leon being in Ada's; which in itself symbolically would go towards his post-Agent training shift. From a naive rookie into a full-blown knows the shady side of the world and learning to work within them Agent that coldly/pragmatically shoots down a former little girl mutation as the rookie full-on breaks down behind him over it.
You can like or not like whatever you want, my issue is when one starts trying to speak about canon, facts, or reality that isn't any of those. Like those that say how Aeon or even more broadly "enemies to lovers" can't work as if that's fact vs. their own opinion.
Um no, that isn't actually insane its having seen the posts and what that entire vein is based on in FANON. Because that's where romantic-Cleon exists and there isn't enough of anything to go towards anything else outside of it. Ada has a strong personality that falls into "popular cheerleader girl", Claire while having a defined personality falls into "homely grounded average bff girl"; thus fangirls have latched onto the latter. Its the exact same shit as when nerds get into a writing position and just so happens every hot femme under the sun suddenly starts getting with the nerdy character. If anything this is something that FUELS my hatred towards romantic-Cleon, because EVERYTHING becomes about it. Veronica a remake I have been FROTHING over since playing CVX years ago has now been completely degraded, because Cleon's have latched onto it and spun shit towards Cleon that have nothing to do with it. Veronica is CLAIRE'S goddamn story not Cleon's, yet there's an entire damn vein making it about that. Claire and Leon could have some legit solid friendship bonding moments since its 2-3 months after 2; but nope its all about Cleon. I LOVE Claire, I've beaten RE2R at least 10 times easily going for her as my main, I like/hold highly PLATONIC/BROTP-Cleon as a rare m/f close FRIENDSHIP, while absolutely DESPISING romantic-Cleon.
inb4 any "Aeon's do the same with Ada": a) no we don't, b) Ada isn't a MAIN character, c) her story has long been interwoven with Leon who IS a main character's, and d) hasn't had her own game (yet). Claire herself is a main character who hasn't even been tied to Leon in years and especially in that game stands on her own.
Cleon and Aeon are not remotely on even ground at fucking all. Again one is based in CANON, the other FANON. Aeon is supported by 5 games, 1 CGI movie that isn't shy about what the tone is between the two, and numerous staff commentary over 28 years; Cleon has 0.01% of RE2R then nothing on the game front, debatable what tone in the movies, Claire having multiple other love interests, and almost no one being actively for Cleon.
I really don't care if you were or did, so long as its a) properly tagged (cause I have my filter on), b) it doesn't spew shit like Aeon/enemies to lovers don't work or sign off on it in this case, or c) completely misrepresent characters like the whole "Ada wouldn't marry" bullshit. The fact that I'm here and haven't blocked you after the Cleon bit, is showing in itself about my willingness to have a grace zone.
See now had you stated some of this there'd have been no issue, since the whole problem I have is with the mischaracterization of Aeon, the blowing up of Cleon, and just the signing off on "enemies to lovers can't work" idea. Especially given that its a particular set up that I love that is in several ships of mine, including one like Caitvi from Arcane that DOES work. I've run across several people that jump onto Aeon edits in order to say shit like "Capcom has already confirmed Cleon" or done entire essays in the comments about how bad the ship is (according to THEIR idea of relationships) and even some painting Ada as an irredeemable monstrous bitch that doesn't deserve the precious angel that is Leon who she beats regularly; cause they have to make her out as just horrid. It gets even worse with how queer-coded I read Aeon as, thus all this shit just falls right into that territory creating a "ahhhhh fuck here we go again" effect.
Hell I've had to fucking stop looking for Claire art because its inevitable there'll be at least 1 Cleon either around to make it about that instead of Claire. I want to support Claire, not Cleon; which they ruin the ability to do so. So you have your reasons for how you are and I have mine.
See here's the difference between you and I, you've had these characters for what 4-5 years now? I've had them for 20+ (TWENTY PLUS) years and have watched their story unfold while getting invested in them. So for you its "just fictional characters" stated nonchalantly, for me its like someone trying to rewrite or shit-talk a Shakespeare play.
Now do I want Claire to have her own Requiem? Sure. But I do not want her to be in Requiem itself, because then instead of being about HER it become warped into Cleon inevitably. Even if Aeon is confirmed in some partnership (cause I'm not even sold on marriage, but rather a non-traditional partnership that is equivalent), it'd STILL be warped into being Cleon vs. having her have her own thing. Its why I'd rather have them use the assets they supposedly already have per leakers to do a Jill and Ada thing that ties into the ending of Requiem. Then RE10 can be Claire's case, since she already has her lead up to it (RE2/2R -> Veronica as her 4/4R -> Rev2 as her 6 -> 10 as her Requiem). Otherwise there's no place for her in Requiem vs. one like Ada, especially after 6 and with the setup it puts in place.
Why is Claire/Ada not mentioned by Leon? Ada: Because as far as the government and especially Chris knows Ada is dead thus stopping the latter's vendetta against her. Claire: Nothing, nada.
Why is Claire/Ada not mentioned by anyone else? Ada: Everyone else except Ada, Helena, and Leon think that Ada is dead. Claire: Nothing, nada.
Why is Leon being married not mentioned by anyone? Ada: It'd be a secret kept between Leon and Ada herself for already mentioned reasons. Claire: Nada, nothing.
Why is Claire/Ada not there with Leon? Ada: She's always done her own thing and has a cat personality that let's Leon handle his shit or might even be on her own mission (a la the Jill & Ada team-up hypothetical). Claire: Stands out like a sore thumb cause she's a dog type that'd be attached at the hip of an s/o. So either a) they try to say she's bedridden via the RCD or b) she's off doing her own thing cause her friend didn't inform her of his status or they're each going for some fix for it separately.
Why does Leon literally quote 6-Ada from one of their most romantic moments as he's dying? Ada: Duh that's his wife of course he's going to think of her in what he think is his final moments. Claire: absolute slap in the face and basically says she was a settle. Which the immediate thought is "you'd love that as an Aeon", except I don't because again I love Claire as her own character who deserves respect. Not to be a settle.
And if you read through this its clear where and why my tone shifted between your post and the Asker's post; since I mention it at least 2-3 times. (the mischaracterization of Ada + the enemies to lovers can't work)
