ok but the concept of a rivalry is just so funny. itâs like âiâm literally obsessed with you. youâre the only motherfucker on the planet worth my undivided time and attention. i spend hours planning in detail exactly what iâm going to say and do the next time that we meet. but, like, i fucking hate you.â
Hi!! Can I be added to your Saint Sebastian Tag list please?
of course ! thank you for your interest !
I sorta wish there was a google doc list of writblr authors and their wips by genre just to keep track of how many awesome stories are being worked on
Your wish is my command!

hi everyone,Â
one of my favourite poets (and one of tumblrâs favourite poets - if youâve ever even looked at a ship graphic youâve probably read a stanza of his work and loved it), the incomparable Richard Sikenâ, suffered a stroke in March. his publishers, Copper Canyon Press, set up a gofundme for his medical bills and living expenses. at this point they donât know if heâll make a full recovery or be able to work again.Â
we all owe this guy a decadeâs worth of back-pay for using his poems as fic titles. if you can make a donation, please do.

Tips for Writing Immortal Characters
Consider how they age. Do they automatically stop aging at a certain point? Do they control their physical age? Keep in mind that physical and mental ages can differ, so donât be afraid to experiment with this a little.
Donât make them all knowing (unless theyâre God or something similar). Just because youâve lived a long time doesnât mean you know everything. While having long lives does give immortal characters more time to accumulate knowledge, the world is always changing. New things are being discovered and invented all the time, so itâs impossible for a single person to know about absolutely everything. Consider having them be especially knowledgeable about a specific topic or two to showcase how they like to spend their ample lifespan, allow them to have cool specialized skills, and still allow them to have gaps in their knowledge.
Decide what can physically hurt them. Immortal characters may not be able to be killed, but they can often be harmed in one way or another. Can a mere mortal hurt them? Having them get hurt by something comically pathetic can make for some good comedy, especially if the immortal character seems formidable at first. If mortals can only hurt them with specific tools or with the aid of other immortal characters, then your immortal characters will be good sources of drama since theyâll be tough to deal with. Consider establishing that they can be incapacitated, perhaps in ways worse than death. Being chopped into dozens of pieces sucks, but itâs even more agonizing if you canât die. Can you imagine being rendered helpless and incapable of communicating with others forever? Powerless rather than death will likely scare them more than anything, so use that to your advantage to add tension to immortal charactersâ arcs.
Let things emotionally hurt them. Imagine watching your country fall into ruin or watching all your loved ones die while you remain physically unchanged. That sort of emotional trauma provides plenty of fuel for conflicts that immortal characters will inevitably have to face. Do they become resigned to watching things fall apart around them or will they try to do something?
Use them to explore big themes like what gives life meaning. Living for centuries can give you an interesting perspective on the world. Diving into an immortal characterâs perspective and being exposed to their unique worldview can provide a lot of food for thought for the reader.

itâs summer so that means weâre starting this bitch again .
this was 30 days of character development but nah i'm making it an ask meme instead
Describe your characterâs relationship with their mother or their father, or both. Was it good? Bad? Were they spoiled rotten, ignored? Do they still get along now, or no?
What are your characters most prominent physical features?
Name one scar your character has, and tell us where it came from. If they donât have any, is there a reason?
How vain is your character? Do they find themselves attractive?
Whatâs your characterâs ranking on the KINSEY SCALE?
Describe your characterâs happiest memory.
Is there one event or happening your character would like to erase from their past? Why?
Day of Favorites! Whatâs your characterâs favorite ice cream flavor? Color? Song? Flower?
Who does your character trust?
Can you define a turning point in your characterâs life? Multiples are acceptable.
Is there an animal you equate with your character?
How is your character with technology? Super savvy, or way behind the times? Letters or email?
What does your characterâs bed look like when he/she wakes up? Are the covers off on one side of the bed, are they all curled around a pillow, sprawled everywhere? In what position might they sleep?
How does your character react to temperature changes such as extreme heat and cold?
Is your character an early morning bird or a night owl?
Are there any blood relatives that your character is particularly close with, besides the immediate ones? Cousins, Uncles, Grandfathers, Aunts, et cetera. Are there any others that your character practically considers a blood relative?
Whatâs your characterâs desk/workspace look like? Are they neat or messy?
Is your character a good cook? Whatâs their favorite recipe, whether theyâre good or not? (Microwave mac-and-cheese applies.)
Whatâs your characterâs preferred means of travel?
Does your character have any irrational fears?
What would your characterâs CUTIE MARK be?
If your character could time travel, where would they go?
Is your character superstitious?
What might your characterâs ideal romantic partner be?
Describe your characterâs hands. Are they small, long, calloused, smooth, stubby?
Second day of favorites! Favorite comfort food, favorite vice, favorite outfit, favorite hot drink, favorite time of year, and favorite holiday.
Pick two songs that describe your character at two different points of their life, and explain why you chose them.
If your characterâs life was a genre, what would it be?
How does your character smell? Do they wear perfume or cologne?
And finally: Write a letter to your character, from yourself.
