She looked like a monster from the old stories. A bloodsucker, a witch, beautiful and deadly.

Title: Crier’s War
Author: Nina Varela
Release Date: October 1st, 2019
Published By: Harper Teen
Pages: 352 pages
***
SYNOPSIS:
After the War of Kinds ravaged the kingdom of Rabu, the Automae, designed to be the playthings of royals, usurped their owners’ estates and bent the human race to their will.
Now Ayla, a human servant rising in the ranks at the House of the Sovereign, dreams of avenging her family’s death…by killing the sovereign’s daughter, Lady Crier.
Crier was Made to be beautiful, flawless, and to carry on her father’s legacy. But that was before her betrothal to the enigmatic Scyre Kinok, before she discovered her father isn’t the benevolent king she once admired, and most importantly, before she met Ayla.
Now, with growing human unrest across the land, pressures from a foreign queen, and an evil new leader on the rise, Crier and Ayla find there may be only one path to love: war.

What can I say about this book guys? I absolutely adored this book. Honestly I think I’m still dealing with a book hangover from this book because I haven’t been able to pick up anything else since I finished this book!
Is it too early to beg for the sequel if the 1st book hasn’t even officially come out yet????
I am dead y’all. Dead. You want girls loving girls in an agonizing slow burn hate to love arc that will crush your soul? READ THIS BOOK.
The way that Nina Varela handles the themes in her book is just completely effortless, she is a masterful storyteller, not everyone can execute this type of a story effectively but Varela knocked it out of the park. This book is full of themes that can be difficult to handle properly – the unnecessary loss of loved ones, the cost of war, coming to terms with how things are not always as they appear to be, the consequences of clinging to hatred, and learning what it means to be human. Plus it’s gay as hell.
There is so much to love about this book. The tension! The plot! The masterful worldbuilding! What I loved most about the dynamics and relationship between our two main characters, Alya and Crier, is that while they were indeed slowly falling for each other and coming to terms with what that meant; they did not just forgive each other or forget what was currently happening or what happened in the past to bring them to this point. Not everything was all hearts and rainbows. Alya would still call out Crier out when necessary. You are not going to want to miss this book!
whew i’m not going to be posting here a lot because i’m an ancient crone who can only handle one social media at a time, but hi, hello, here’s me, i’m nina varela, i wrote CRIER’S WAR (out 10/1/19)! it’s f/f slow burn enemies to lovers ft. androids and revenge, i hope you like it.
