     A simple hum left Natasha’s throat in acknowledgement, entirely unphased by the girl’s excited nature. She wasn’t known for compliments, and she definitely did not hand them out freely, but she knew when they were well deserved. 

    She let out a chuckle, a sharp but quiet sound at the way Usagi used the word ‘drama’ to describe the mayhem the city bestowed upon them every now and again. “Big, scary, and stupid maybe. I wouldn’t stress too much about it. I’m sure you won’t have any trouble taking down a creep in an alleyway.” 

     Natasha had tried to live a normal life once, long ago; tried to leave the life of espionage behind her. But she’d found that she couldn’t. Even with all the grief, all the pain that it had brought her and those around her, it was a part of her. She would forever be the Black Widow. “You don’t miss it? Being Sailor Moon?”

“You’re too kind... But yeah, I guess I do kinda miss being Sailor Moon. It was a lot of responsibility, but it meant I got to spend time with my friends while taking down bad guys... “

Plus, it meant she was the future heir to a Moon kingdom, which was pretty rad. People seemed to respect that in her home world, but here, they didn’t really give a toss. 

“Maybe I wouldn’t have any trouble, but I just don’t want to risk making a fool of myself. There are so many people here who are smarter, better, stronger... What is the point in me trying to help? I may as well just stick to the sidelines.”

“Hm… if you say so.”

He wouldn’t admit it but… he wanted to improve his computer skills, and what better way to do that than by getting his hands one one of the damnable things.

“I’ve done that already.” He’s actually quite proud of his staff for accommodating the newcomers so well. “Though that’s definitely something I plan to do, eventually.”

A beat.

“Have I already told you about my plans for the summer exposition?” Did he remind her to send the email to the proper mailing list…? Wait, if he was asking her then he probably didn’t…

“Summer exposition?”

Yep, definitely had no idea on that one. Scratching her head, she wracks her brain for a moment before shaking it. 

“Nope, no idea. What’s it all about?”

Usagi was indeed a bit of a slacker, and she had to wonder if maybe he did actually tell her and she simply forgot... But this did sound all very new and exciting.

Usagi was, like most of the people Corvo had met in the city, far more technologically adept than he. This generally wasn’t much of a problem considering much of that technology was irrelevant to his day to day life.

However, this was different.

When he’s accosted by the young woman, Corvo looks up from the computer, trying his best to keep his expression as innocent as possible.

“Oh, Usagi, I was just… I was speaking to a friend, you see, and he might be interested in some lessons. I saw that you were busy and…” A pause. “I thought I’d spare you the trouble.”

Ah yes. She knew that look well. She couldn’t help but feel some pity for the old man - he was just trying to help, after all - but after he accidentally downloaded a virus because a Nigerian prince offered to angel invest into the training hall, she knew she had to be vigilant.

“I can multitask, you know. It’s really no trouble, Corvo! You have better things to be doing.” 

Like your girlfriend. A small snicker under her breath. 

Ava looked up, wondering if Usagi was serious– whether she was or not, Ava couldn’t help but let out a soft snicker. The other girl’s words were just too ridiculous for her to ignore.

“Snrrk– it must be a boring place if you only go there to sleep…”

Mood uplifted, Ava smiled once more.

“That’s okay… I don’t even want to think about school anymore.”

Such thoughts only wandered to the image of a blown up planet, and the knowledge of what happened to that place.

“Uhm… well… what else is there to do around this city? It’s so… big.”

   She’s glad she could entertain her new guest and help brighten her mood a bit. After all, there was no use in being sad for too long. 

“Activities in the city? Well, there’s quite a few. I like going to the arcade and playing video games - my favourite is the zombie shooter, you see, because it’s really a game of skill - or go to the park! I love the park. You can do roll so many times down the hills, it’s great.” 

Usagi has a deviant look in her eyes. Maybe she could rope her new friend into some wild antics. There were some cardboard boxes that needed to be recycled, and they would make pretty good sleds for the grassy knolls.... 

   It had been a few weeks since Usagi settled in to her new job, and she was really quite enjoying it. While it mainly involved signing people up to the Training Hall, she found herself really investing her time into making sure everything was running to standard. 

Was this what working was meant to be like for the rest of her life? If so, it seemed pretty darn easy!

Until she saw Corvo trying to fiddle with Cittasoft Excel, then she got annoyed.

“You can always protect me. I would have no complaints– unless you died then that’d be a problem.”

   “I-Itachi-san… !” 

She always knew she could rely on the nin to step in and give her hand should the situation call for it. After all, their whole friendship was based around Usagi always ending up in a weird situation that required assistance.

Stepping up off her knee, she finds her footing once more to join him at his side, weapon drawn and at the ready. 

   “A-Ah... Hey! Excuse me! Hello? Miss uh... Miss Tree Lady, you are kind of in the way here!”

How did such a spriggy young girl get into this mess? Usagi was just about to evaporate a monster into a billion pieces, and here this girl was, wandering in like it was some sort of free for all! To be fair, maybe it was because the senshi had whipped out her Moon Rod in the middle of a fast food restaurant, but that still didn’t give the pink haired girl any reason to waltz in like that.

Frantically waving her rod, Usagi is really getting confused at the amount of interruptions her fights have been having lately.
