The rejection hits hard. The jerk of a guy barely even looks at you before awkwardly laughing and saying, “Uh… sorry, you’re just not really my type,” while his friends snicker nearby watching the whole interaction. You can already feel your face burning as you walk away, wishing you hadn’t worked up the courage to ask in the first place. You never felt so embarrassed in your life and wanted to crawl in a hole where no one can find you.
Ben notices immediately when you disappear afterward. You stop answering messages, stop joking around, stop smiling the way you usually do. At first, he tries being casual about it.
“Heyyyy, where’d you vanish to?”
But when you finally admit what happened, his expression drops.
“…They rejected you because you’re chubby? Seriously?”
Ben is usually smug and playful, but this time he’s genuinely irritated. He’d absolutely stalk the guy’s social media afterward just to roast every embarrassing thing he finds and hacks into his electronics.
“You know what’s funny?” he mutters. “People like that always think they’re hotter than they actually are".
Then he softens a little, nudging your shoulder.
“I like you exactly how you are, y’know"
Ben’s affection comes out through teasing and attention. He’ll spam you with memes to make you laugh again, drag you into games to distract you, and casually compliment you until you start believing him. He loves you dearly and will be ready to cheer you up when you're down.
When Jeff hears about it, he mmediately goes dead silent. Which is worse than his usual self yelling.“…He said that to you?”. The second you nod, Jeff is furious. He already thinks most people are shallow and cruel, so hearing someone insult you for your body makes him genuinely angry.
“He laughed at you for that? You expected him to mock you too because Jeff isn’t exactly known for being gentle, but instead he looks disgusted at the guy.
“You’re cute,” he says. “They’re just stupid"
Jeff will be more protective and will not allow anyone to insult you. He would not allow any kind of disrespect towards you.
Jeff will definitely pay a visit to the guy and might not see tomorrow.
Toby takes the rejection personally. Like, personally personally. The second he sees you upset, he’s already panicking because he hates seeing you upset.
Once you explain why the guy rejected you, Toby’s face twists with immediate anger. “What the hell is wrong with people?!”. He’s loud about it too. No filter whatsoever. "WHO CARES IF YOURE CHUBBY OR NOT!!
Toby would absolutely hype you up afterward in the most chaotic way possible (thats toby for u). He’s the kind of person who aggressively compliments you until you’re a blushing mess instead of crying.“Your cheeks are adorable". “You give the best hugs".
He’d also get weirdly clingy afterward like holding your hand, leaning on you, constantly checking if you’re okay. He hates the idea of you feeling unwanted.“You deserve somebody who looks at you like you hung the moon,” he mumbles quietly later. “Not some jerk".
Jack is calmer than the others, but honestly? That might be more intimidating.
When you tell him what happened, he sets down the book he was reading and says "That was an exceptionally cruel thing to say" His voice stays calm, but there’s something dangerous underneath it.
Jack doesn’t care about conventional attractiveness nearly as much as other people do. He notices things like your personality, your warmth, your expressions, and the way you make him feel less alone. So hearing someone reduce you to your weight genuinely confuses and angers him.“You asked someone out despite being nervous,” he says. “That takes courage. They didn’t deserve it"
Jack comforts quietly but thoroughly. He’ll sit beside you in silence if needed, let you lean against him, gently reassure.
As you fall asleep on his shoulder, in his low voice he whispers, "For the record… I think you’re beautiful" Which somehow hits harder than anything else.
