it's interesting that there are so many important women in Hannibal Lecter's life: his mother, sister, aunt, Clarice. but not a single man who had any significant influence on his personality. he's such a mommy's boy

am i the only one who can't reconcile Hannibal Lecter's biological age with his character description in the books? i mean, he's over sixty in the third volume. however, there's no mention of him having gray hair, only sleek black hair. he's very slender, despite not doing any physical activity. he's also incredibly strong. and his sexual activity with Clarice at the end of the book is also admirable
i'm thinking that in the world created by Thomas Harris, Dr. Lecter is something of a pop culture icon. they're probably releasing merchandise and writing biographies about him. barney auctioned off Hannibal's personal belongings and it was incredibly popular. so Clarice and Hannibal live in Argentina, visit bookstores and can't help but notice the interest writers and journalists have in Hannibal. does this kind of literature amuse Clarice, who is perhaps the only person in the world who knows everything about Hannibal's childhood? has she ever considered writing about his life herself, to dispel all these rumors and insinuations? and to what extent does this interest in him satisfy Hannibal's ego or perhaps, on the contrary, anger him?
Doodle of Hannibal, Will, Clarice etc. from the books!!
hannibal lecter: i think i need to shoot you with this crossbow so time can reverse and i can have my dead sister back
clarice starling: yeah sure. OR. you could suck your favorite wine off my nipples and i teach you how to fuck instead

happy anniversary to them 🥳🫀
a new nonfiction book about Hannibal was recently published, featuring a remarkable cover.
i just finished reading it, and it turned out to be an impartial exploration of the character's entire cultural journey, including numerous references. it also explores the enigmatic Thomas Harris and his attitude toward film adaptations (always negative).
i especially liked that the author of this book didn't delve into Clarice and Hannibal's relationship at the end of 'Hannibal,' limiting himself to mentioning the criticism.
on the downside: fewer references to Trump could have been included.

i often hear the opinion that in the SotL film the image and appearance of Hannibal Lecter are conveyed most closely to the original text of the books.
honestly, how closely does Anthony Hopkins' look match the description of Hannibal in the books? i mean, Hannibal has a hooked nose, red eyes, sixth finger and so on
besides, in the movie he's portrayed as a respectable gentleman, while in the books he's a sarcastic asshole with jokes about fecels
it's so sweet that Hannibal adores the unisex brand 'Santa Maria Novella.' he sends Clarice a set of lotions and soaps from Florence and keeps a few boxes for himself. they definitely share a shelf of skincare products in their bathroom in Buenos Aires 😅

Hannibal, when he put down the Italian edition of Vogue and looked at Clarice for the first time
get your birthday kisses, doctor 😏
one time wasn't enough for him
Hannibal, chapter 77
the mink is still a dangerous and formidable predator. just so cute.
did Hannibal actually have Ganser syndrome? in ‘Red Dragon’ he tells Will Graham that his lawyer used this diagnosis to protect him from prison. however, in ‘Hannibal’ Clarice remarks to Mason that Hannibal never pleaded insanity during his trial. we know how much he dislikes looking inside himself and trying to diagnose himself. so was Ganser syndrome an excuse to avoid prison or was Hannibal actually diagnosed with it by other psychiatrists?

every time I read about Hannibal drugging Clarice and altering her personality, I think of this scene from the end of the third book. Clarice experiences Crawford's death deeply and personally and leaves the house for the day. Hannibal gives her as much space as she needs. she's free to go wherever she wants and deal with her grief however she chooses. Jack Crawford has always been the central father figure in her life, and even Hannibal's therapy proved powerless to change that
