My name is John Soat. I am a designer, illustrator and motionographer. Though born and raised in Wisconcin, I currently reside in San Francisco, CA. Many of the prints were created in collaboration with my screen printing collective Animal Canon.

Set in 1979 Ohio, a group of six young children use a Super 8 camera to make their own zombie movie. One night, while filming near a remote stretch of railroad tracks, the children witness a truck collide with an oncoming train leading to a catastrophic derailment. Amidst the fire and destruction, something inhuman emerges.

I started with the technique of engraving in the early ’80s in EAV – School of Visual Arts at Parque Lage. Today I work only with visual arts. For some time I shared my connection to the art with the academic and professional activities as a pension fund actuary, professor of postgraduate studies in universities and writer of books and papers on Actuarial Science. This is my diary of images, where all my work is placed (new and old), without worrying about choices.
