Project: Create

Tried a little bit of fushion art today with water colour and pressed flowers. I was aiming for a sunset but I was told it wound up looking more like a forest fire 😂 I’m obviously still new to water colour and visual art in general, but I had a lot of fun doing it and practice can only help.

Today I did a little bit of paper craft and made a small decorative ordament. This was suggested to me by my boss at a local florist cafe. My added twist is that It’s scented with essential oils on the inside. It doesn’t serve much of a purpose but I think it turned out pretty cute and I might consider making a couple more in the future as small ‘garden in a bottle’ set.

Tried my hand at jewellery making today. I made these Amathyst shard and black leather earrings. I am a big fan of amathyst and love the way the colour scheme turned out. I’m yet to see if they are durable, however. As they are the first set of earings I’ve made they may be falling apart within a week.

Gave flower (and leaf) pressing a go today. I’ve done flower pressing once before with a book, but for the first time I’m using a pressing board, which I made yesterday. I’ve used baking paper in the absence of blotting paper. Additionally I have no idea as the whether the types of plants Ive selected will take well the press preserving. So fingers crossed it works out!
