Aishwarya Rai in Silsila Ye Chahat Ka from Bhansali’s Devdas (2002). The level of glamour and ethereal aesthetics of a girl keeping a lamp continuously lit for her love since being separated in childhood—
Yall need to watch this video it’s so fucking beautifu
that voice is insane also hair goals.
HONESTLY thank u all for appreciating my culture, i feel like we don’t get a lot of recognition at all. as a child, i used to feel like the odd one out for loving and admiring people like her. but seriously, indian songs/movies can be so beautiful and have so much elegance..and i think it’s really cool that you guys have noticed that
Devdas is a stunning film and one of my favorites.
Fun story: About a decade ago, a friend of mine heard I was interested in watching more Bollywood films and insisted I watch Devdas because it's brilliant. He leant it to me and I watched it. And sobbed I uncontrollably for like an hour and then further after the film ended.
It's an amazing movie, but he didn't tell me it was a tragedy. His wife heard and was so angry at him for not warning me she not only made him apologize, but also had him gift me a comedy, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, which is also a wonderful film that I love.
I recommend you all watch Devdas, but get ready to sob and not just at Aishwarya Rai and Shah Rukh Khan's gorgeousness. It is a gorgeous work of art, but it is TRAGIC AF.
