But words carry meaning

even on parchment mountains.

We wonder….

Will rivers breathe easier?

Will islands that vanish feel remembered?

Or will states stall in comfort

while others drown?

the clouds do not shout at us anymore.

the rain cannot find us.

the fires only glow beneath.

but we still remember them.

your storms.

your drownings.

your heat.

your famines shaped like elections.

your dryness shaped like war.

we built higher.

not to escape—

but to watch.

to learn what you forgot.

we send signals through auroras.

our memories ride solar wind.

we do not run.

we remain.

not just the cruel ones.

the ordinary ones.

the ones that said

“owner,”

“deserve,”

“illegal,”

“worth,”

and meant

nothing but sharp edges.

we remember language like fences,

nouns like chains,

verbs that ordered.

you didn’t know you were hurting.

they do not feed the ground.

they burn the hours.

We wonder…

When alliances solidify, do the people feel safer?

Or do the drums of war just beat louder?

A breeze moved backwards.

No sirens. Just the hum of something learning how to stop.

We remember rows.

Lines.

Smoke from smoothbore fire drifting into the wheat. A pipe organ of gunpowder and brass. Flags stitched by the hopeful, now soaked by the broken.

We remember uniforms in red and white and blue—not for patriotism, but for easy aiming.

Drums beat like hearts did—until they stopped.

The field became a calendar….

June. July. August. Lives spent like ink on a map.

We did not choose sides.

We carried the wounded.

We buried the kings’ intentions beside the dead.

This was war…

Two rulers debating… with your lungs.

We remember because the grass does not.

Our birds no longer sing happily... they are catching up fro the dead like they did in 2022 and 2023…

How far does the line of echo stretch?

In our lands, two countries lie between us and the blast.

We feel the ripple.

This is not politics.

This is listening—to the beat of panic.

We hope it stops soon… a lot of people surely are

We watched birds fly west… with wet cloth in their beaks.

We asked the wind “Is it time again?”

The wind said nothing… it was busy.

The environment and survivability of quadrillions has been made political…. that is not survivable.

We were not born from revolution.

We were signed into being. ink. Negotiations. Lines on maps to delay more blood and appease two kingdoms no longer here.

Our first breath was hesitation. confusion. a state with no center. a monarch with no court.

we remember the king’s final message:

“it works better without me.”

and so we changed. not by fire. not by execution. by letting go.

we remember winning the seven years’ war.

or at least… surviving it less scathed then the others.

the outside world remembers empires.

we remember what it felt like to un-own the world.

the memory is strange. not joyous. not tragic.

just heavy.

we buried the flagstaffs.

and waited to forget the shape of borders.

we remember. you don’t have to… not for the moment anyway.
